Sounds like Gus and Dave both like a QB that can be a threat with his legs. _________________

The only QB I can think of in this draft is Matt Scott. |

Collin Klein. But he's not a very good passer and likely won't be drafted, sooooo.......

It sounded to me more like they're not going to limit themselves to strictly traditional drop back passers, as some teams tend to do. _________________

But if you look closer Earl Thomas was the only guy we (Hawks) had the came with all-pro pedigree that was expected to be elite no matter where and who he played for. Gus coached, taught and led a bunch of unheralded guys into bigtime performers to the point where, aside from Branch and Hill, there are 9 guys starting that play at a probowl or near probowl level.
Gus is fantastic IMO. Farts rainbows. A blue-collar James Bond if you will - perfect gentleman and good dude until the situation forces him into becoming the baddest man around (holds more weight when a consistently good dude blows his lid). |
I think that you're overrating Gus's ability to develop talent. Ken Norton Jr. is 110% responsible for the LB core (especially KJ Wright), Kris Richard/Pete Carroll are responsible for the Secondary and Dan Quinn is responsible for making things work with Red Bryant and Chris Clemons.
What Gus Bradley will do is get the defence on the same page and get the team to play football. _________________

If that's the case, Dion Jordan is my new man-crush (for now at least). I like the idea of having a hybrid pass rusher roaming around.
Man, how good would Taylor Mays be in the Cam Chancellor role? |
He brought it up after, saying that he really liked the ability to switch back and forth between the two. Said he would review the roster and see what types of things each guy did best and put them in the roles best for them, even if that means moving some guys to different positions. |
I'm certainly intrigued if this means we might see something along the lines of a pseudo-hybrid front type deal here. |

An interesting hire.
One thing that can be said for Bradley is that he can take an above average group of defensive talent and make them look like an above average group of defensive talent.
They won't play much better than they are, or much worse, though ... so really on defense at least it's up to your GM to not put a bullet in Bradley's head, which may actually be pretty likely to happen. If he has talent to work with ... IF ... then he can put together a defense that plays well. He never figured out how to get pressure on QBs though, but the other stuff should be fine.
Not sure what'll happen on the offensive side. That'll be interesting. |
