I figured since all 3 of these guys were a viable option for the Browns this offseason, it might be nice to take a poll and see which of the 3 is going to be a better Head Coach. _________________

i say chud, he will actually have a couple players who know his system and know the way he might coach the team. thats more you can say about any other team.
Also chud has more present NFL exp. Tres was in the CFL for a couple years and Marrone has been in college the past couple years.
I think early on, it might be chud but Tres might have a chance at overtaking him because of all the experience he has in general _________________

Depends on how you want to judge them. If you are going to base it off wins next year and make rash conclusions like Browns fans do then the fan base is going to be jumping off bridges next year saying we should have went Trestman bc the Bears will win 3-4 more games than the Browns. If you are talking about long term and sustainable success then I believe Chud is in the best position and will succeed with flying colors. _________________

I opened this thread with the original thought that Chip Kelly was going to be part of the thread.
Then I was going to post "Chip Kelly is dead to me"..
....but there wasn't. So i voted instead. _________________ 2013 First Ballot Recipient of the Joe Blackburn Award |

Substitute Kelly's name for Marrone, because I don't remember reading a single word about Marrone that registered as a possible answer to the question: Why?
Chud, Trestman and Kelly have one main thing in common: Offensive creativity.
Chud's creativity has gotten acclaim around the NFL based on his continuous NFL experience.
Trestman got high marks for his work in the NFL and probably learned a few twists in the CFL.
Kelly is a headcase who's schemes playing with boys will not translate well, imho, to the NFL. Bits and pieces, yes, but even then there is the question: How does he handle dealing with men?
I'd say it's a tie between Chud and Trestman. _________________ Everything happens exactly the way it is supposed to happen...otherwise, it would happen some other way |

The bolded is a valid question and the one question that kept me from being fully gung ho on Chip Kelly
That is to say- just because he hasn't proved that he can deal with men it does not mean he cannot.
I did like Chip because of his usage of modern statistical analysis in his game planning- a tide of moneyball can help a coach really step up his game, imo. _________________

With the talent already on CHI's roster, that's reasonable.
While I don't think switching to a 3-4 will hurt us that much if we acquire the right players in FA and the draft, it still will be a switch, which will cost us wins early in the season.
Not so many that we pick first, however, although that might not be a bad thing if we could get Clowney or a franchise QB! _________________ Everything happens exactly the way it is supposed to happen...otherwise, it would happen some other way |

So when the Packers switched from the 4-3 to the 3-4 and got a lot better means it's impossible for us to do the same thing? (there are other examples of teams IMPROVING in their first year in a defensive scheme change, it just seems like everyone is just assuming we'll get worse or have major growing pains because it happened when we switched from the 4-3 to the 3-4 and then when we switched back) _________________ Adopt-a-Brown: Jabaal Sheard - Stats:

this draft is weak in linebackers.
Sheard has never played in a 3-4.
new dc will probably lose four games before he even understands what he has.
square peg round hole one experienced 3-4 lineman , are dl are all 4-3 lineman.
this team only won 5 games.
who besides this board wants pogano? |
