Fantastic hire by the Bears. I'm jealous. I've been advocating him as a HC for years. Al Davis would interview with him every time he hired a new coach but it never happened.
Have to laugh at the people caught up on him being from the CFL. Trestman started coaching in the NFL back in the 80's and has been around some great teams and great players.
The fact he's a Championship coach in the CFL only boosts his resume.
His biggest issue in the past was his offense is very complicated and took a smart QB to operate it. Cutler should be fine in it. Really looking forward to watching the Bears. _________________

Not a sexy hire, but we'll see how this goes. _________________

Gotta say, vey bold hire by the Bears. The initial outcry might be "OMGZ, CFL HAHAHA!!11!!!!11!" but...the guy is pretty proven at this level, had some good success, part of a solid "tree" in Jimmy Johnson's hierarchy.
This won't placate fans who go off of name recognition, but the results will far outweigh any sort of "brand backlash" by the uneducated. _________________

A lot of people are calling the hiring of Trestman by the Bears a bold choice. However, Trestman has 20 years of NFL coaching experience. _________________

All I keep reading is QB guru, great with QBs, molds QBs. It sounds like all they did was hire a QB coach. Which they don't even need because Cutler is already a great QB. _________________

Excellent hire, could not be happier for Bears fans. Also as an Argo fan this is great news to get him out of the CFL lol. But honestly, in two years no one will remember he even left the NFL. _________________

Outstanding hire by the Bears. I'm impressed and props to the for not following the typical protocall, by going to the CFL to find their next HC.
He has a great pedigree in the NFL and working with Jimmy Johnson and those great Miami teams speaks for itself. Probably the greatest coaching staff in Miami history. |

Trestman worked for Bud Grant and Bill Walsh too.

he was SF's offensive coordinator.
The first year he was there the 49ers led the NFL with 457 points scored, 644 pass attempts and 4,779 passing yards.
