I'm really hoping the Browns cut McCoy. He would be a terrific backup IMO. He can play in the WCO, and he has some mobility. A little time with MM and he might even become a trade chip in the future. With Jason Campbell in CLE his days are numbered.

That's the only way he comes to GB, I think. That way, we give up nothing in terms of draft picks and we get to structure his contract.

We don't really run the WCO anymore, though. We do have timing routes, but everything is usually vertical.

I see too many other teams potentially interested in him for the Packers to get him. Could depend on him picking his career direction, whether he still wants an opportunity to start or if he he wants to try and make a lengthy career as a backup. Green Bay would be a good place if he likes the idea of hanging around for another decade as a backup but there's no opportunity to start.

Is there a better position in the league then backup QB? Everyone loves the spotlight but to be able to make good money with relative longevity and security without destroying your body there's really nothing else besides specialists.

Yeah Sherman started taking the Packers away from the traditional WCO, and McCarthy's offense isn't really WCO at all. He's never been a WCO guy. He's from the Air Coryell lineage and it's pretty clear the offense the Packers run is from that family, not the WCO.

Terms of deal: Browns agree to trade QB Colt McCoy and 6th-round pick to San Francisco for 5th- and 7th-round picks. Niners have new backup.

Actually like what they had at back up QB with Tolzien. Should be interesting battle for the back up job in SF this year.

Flynn to Oakland, Palmer to Arizona, McCoy to San Francisco. Been a bust day for QB's.

Felt Oakland really needed to move on from Palmer, he doesn't seem to have any passion left to play. Arizona... well beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Palmer is going to look like Tom Brady to Zona fans after what they had last year. Would not be shocked to see him have a bounce back year in the desert.

Well all he needs to do is get the ball within Fitz's 10 foot radiance, something that their QB's couldn't do last year. I believe Palmer still has the skills, I just question whether he cares enough to be the leader a team needs...

Definitely hear that. This whole quitter thing with the Bengals and now the Raiders is a little concerning.

What do you guys think of signing a guy like Sedrick Ellis formerly of the Saints. I know at 6'1" and 310 pounds he isnt the prototype that we are looking for at DE, just wondering if you guys think he could fit in our system as a possible back up for Raji?

He'd need to gain weight to NT, and we're currently looking for more length on the DL.

I want us to deal our 2nd and Newhouse to KC for Brandon Albert. They would get rid of that problem, get a RT, and get a pick.

Don't know how the salaries would workout with Albert being up for a new deal, but an Albert-Lang-EDS-Sitton Bulaga line would be awesome. Still have Sherrod, Barclay and Datko on the bench. Would prolly need a OG/C type in FA or the draft and then that would be the nine you run with.
