You misunderstood what I meant. I wasn't saying that you were rushing to judgement on Coach Joe, I am saying you are jumping to a conclusion as to his fate.
"If the gm thought Ryan was bad there is no way he can look in the mirror and say Joe D wasn't."
...and we don't know if he has, or hasn't. The off-season and coaching cycle isn't done yet.
Which was my point. Letting things play out could potentially save you some grief. You want Coach Joe gone? Great, take a number and get in line since a lot of us done Not every situation is a sky-is-falling moment. I don't see what the difference is if they fire him now or a week from now if they are still evaluating other potential candidates. _________________

What bonuses? The contract would expire. |
The money was already paid - they were Restructure bonuses - ie. we took 12m of his 13m salary and paid it upfront but spread the cap hit out over 5 years. Did that 3 times with Romo IIRC and even after 2013 we'd still have 9.6 approx that would have to go somewhere. It doesn't just disappear. |
I'm pretty sketchy on all the contract lingo and what not....
What I really mean to say is if Romo is on the team through the 2013 season, the remainder of his contract is void. Correct? I would assume that means all parts of it, hence he would be an UFA. You don't become an UFA if you are stilled owed money...at least that doesn't seem logical to me. |
Voiding his contract doesn't void the cap hit - just like if you were to cut him, all his guaranteed money and previously paid money would hit that years cap. If you could just void the cap hits of future years, everyone would do it and never end up in cap crunch. |
Do me a favor and dissect the meaning here
Apparently this is wrong.
Also, where did the $12M come from? According to this, the signing bonus was only $8.19M. |
The scratched out misc bonuses are the restructure bonuses listed below.
They're paid and therefore count - similar to a signing bonus
Add those numbers up and its about 9.6m - not sure what 12m you were referring to but that almost 10mm plus the almost 15m franchise tag puts you at almost 25m cap hit _________________

Never said the sky was falling nor do I grieve over the Cowboys.
What if they keep him ? Is it only then it becomes inequitable ? _________________ A circle. The direction the Cowboys continue to travel. |

Trestman helped train Cutler prior to the draft. I guess that familiarity was a big deal. Hopefully Trestman will take Coach D off our hands.
Who would we want to replace him? I don't really keep up with ST coaches all that much. _________________

Bobby Williams would be my first choice, given his familiarity with Redball. _________________

Ben Kotwica of the Jets is another option _________________
