Basically if you could get on free agent in this years pool which one would you go with. Let's assume that the Vikings offer a 5 year deal and the most money so they can get anyone that they want.
http://nfltraderumors.co/nfltr-features2013-nfl-free-agents/
Here's a URL for the top 40 free agents by one source and ideally we get a little reasoning for picking the player you pick.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm torn between two, and surprisingly neither is a WR, Jarius Byrd is just a great cover safety. But I would go with Henry Melton. I think that he would be a great replacement for Kevin Williams and give the Vikings a much stronger defensive line. The defense was soft up the middle and Melton would help improve that and he can get after the QB from the DT position. He wouldn't save the Vikings money at the DT position, but he'd be a good player who would be around for a long time at the age of 26, plus that then lowers the need at DT (even though NT could be a need) and would allow the Vikings to address WR in the draft in two of the top 4 picks. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

WR Victor Cruz would be nice, Sauron.

Boy, that's a hard decision to make. In the end, even if I had money to burn, I don't know if I personally would spend it on any of those top players like Byrd, Melton, Bowe or Jennings.
I'm torn between 2: Danario Alexander and Leodis McKelvin
I do really like Alexander's potential (of course the knee injuries are scary) and with the changes in San Diego, he might not want to stay.
Also, depending upon what the Vikings' plan to do with Sherels, they could potentially move on and sign Leodis McKelvin as a nickel back/punt returner. That would be an upgrade over Sherels on both counts. _________________

I know it's not necessarily part of it, but the one I would want, and has a chance of being available is Mike Wallace
Jarius Byrd and Henry Melton are franchise tag candidates
Danario Alexander is a RFA
McKelvin is an interesting name. Pretty good slot corner and returner, but he's soft. _________________

| If I were going to spend big money on 1 player, it would probably have to be a wide receiver. Any of Wallace, Jennings or Bowe would be fine, but Jennings is probably my favorite. |

Byrd.
Him and Harrison have the potential to be deadly. I think it can help eliminate the urgent need for a Corner as well if we would have Byrd and Smith back there.
Byrd and Smith at S, Robinson and Cook at Corner with Winfield in the Nickle, I think we would be okay for a couple years until Winfield retires then draft a corner opposite Cook while moving Robinson to the Nickle. This is assuming Robinson doesn't work out very well.. However, as a rookie, I think he did well and he has a lot of potential and we might just be fine for years to come with those 4.
I just think Byrd can help address 2 problems with one player because a Safety can shore up a secondary in a hurry.
Edit: Plus I was a huge Jairius Byrd fan when he was coming out of Oregon in '09 |

Jairus Byrd and it's not even close.
Of course, he'll likely get the tag.
1. Byrd
2. Bowe
3. Jennings
4. Melton
5. Amendola
Those are my top five. _________________

Wallace, he is everything this team needs on offense.
Although I would be tempted to grab Byrd or Melton. I think that they are both getting the tag.
1. Wallace
2. Byrd
3. Melton
4. Levitre
5. Jennings _________________

Not saying he'd be my first choice...but Sean Smith would be a nice addition. Him and Cook would be a real good CB duo for a long time. _________________

Give me Byrd or that top guard from buffalo.
Pairing Byrd with Smith would form one of the better safety combinations in the nation. That would also take a little more pressure off our mediocre corner-backs
If we sign the guard, that would pretty much give us a top 5 offensive line and if we add 1 or 2 more receivers, this offense could be scary good.
Obviously this is all wishful thinking but its funny to go through these scenarios |

Forgot about Sean Smith for a second. He'll probably get the tag as well, but he'd be an awesome addition.
And if they could somehow get both Byrd & Smith, that secondary would be set for a decade. _________________
