Read somewhere else that a guy predicted:
Escobar, Williams and Randel will have more combined TDs than Witten, Austin and Murray.
What do you think? How many TDs do you think each will score individually and how many as a whole? _________________

Only if injuries rob Witten, Austin, and Murray of playing time. _________________

I don't see that happening, barring injury. _________________

To play devils advocate:
Murray averages 3 TDs a season
Witten averages 5 TDs a season as a starter
Austin averages 8 TDs a season as a starter
So, the question becomes - can Escobar, Williams and Randle get above ~16 TDs. _________________

* Escobar, it depends on how often we line up in those 2 TE sets this season. I could see him and Witten getting about the same amount of TDs should we use that formation often.
* Unless Williams starts correcting the drops, I could see him remain behind Austin/Harris unless Austin gets injured.
* Randle may match Murray's production if the latter can't stay healthy. _________________

It is indeed possible if Murray gets hurt, and Randle is able to find the endzone more often than our running game has recently. I see escobar helping us in the redzone and getting some TD's, and if Williams can catch a few deep ball TD's they could very well end up close to the 16 TDs.
But i voted for the veterans. _________________

Austin cant stay healthy
Witten is rarely a goalline threat or TD threat
Murray doesn't get in the endzone
Randle is a TD monster who will get goalline touches
Escobar is a bug tall hands guy
Williams will be the #2 by August _________________

Murray was a TD monster in college as well having 63 in his 4 year career while Randle had 40 in 3. It points towards that Murrays lack of TD's more is a result of the Cowboys o line/play calling so I don't think we should expect Randle to outperform him in this category if Murray stays healthy. Also i'm not that sure that Randle will get goalline touches, especially with him not being able to work out in the weight room that much because of his injury. Or have Garrett stated something else? _________________ The lonely supporter of Phil Costa.. |

I actually think it's very likely given where they are most likely to be utilized. It's not because they are better players, but in better positions. _________________

Murray and Austin will miss time, Witten has never been a HUGE redzone or TD threat.
Williams has some big play potential in him, Escobar's main playing time will come in the redzone imo and isn't part of Randle's scouting report being a goal line back (I could make that up).
If it was Witten, Bryant and Murray I say no way. But.....I could see it. _________________

I think there is an extremely good chance of this happening.
It seems incredibly likely that Escobar and Randle will score more touchdowns than Murray and Witten. Randle is a great goal line back, Escobar is a great redzone target. Murray and Witten, not so much.
Austin will probably score more than Williams, but I'd guess that Williams will have a very high percentage of his catches come on deep routes where he gets behind the defense. If Williams can score on 4 or 5 of those, I think the newbies win this running away. _________________

No way does the 3rd WR, who will likely be the QB's 4th or 5th option, the backup RB and the #2 TE score more than the starters. Unless there are a bunch of injuries.
I could see Witten and Escobar being even. Given Murray's injury history, I could see Randle scoring more. I just can't see Williams beating Austin. Like I said earlier, at best Williams will be Romo's 4th or 5th option on a passing play. That role won't lead to very many scores. _________________

I have to disagree. He may be the 4-5th option but I think a lot of the time Romo does look to Williams it will be on a deep route. I think it is very likely that Romo hooks up with him at-least 1 big play TD every other week which leaves him at like 8 TDs on the year. _________________
