I'm confused. Why do we need another DT? We have like 90. Are most of them better fits in a 3-4? _________________

We don't really have a guy capable of plugging holes as the 'NT' in the new scheme. Hatcher sounds like he's going to excel at the UT role. _________________

Spears needs to play the 1 or 0 tech. We just don't have any superb penetrators. There aren't any Sapps in the draft either. I think Floyd would be tailor made for this d. _________________ A circle. The direction the Cowboys continue to travel.

They want Ratliff to play the 1.
Interestingly enough - I just read that Ryan had Ratliff 2 gapping the last 2 years. That is a terminable offense in and of itself.
If Ratliff to play the 1, they want him to shoot the gap. Think back to Phillps days. From what I read, Ware, Hatch and Rat will all shoot gaps every play... according to Lacewell anyways. _________________

[quote="Rtnldave"]I don't know where to begin just yet. I will have to do some digging on this one. However, I would be wide open to the options of trading some of our underachieving veteran players for extra picks at this point ie: Austin for 3rd or 4th, Ratliff for a 5th or 6th, Spears for the same. We could package those picks and move up to get an extra 3rd or 4th. Then we could draft either:
1st: C. warmack OG Ala or B. Jones C/G Ala
2nd: S. Richardson DT Mizz or S. Williams DT N. Car.
3rd a: W. Sutton DE Ariz ST or D. Jones DE UCLA
3rd b (Austin) B Williams OT N. Car or Oday Aboushi OT Virg
4th a P. Thomas S Fresno St
4th b (package a 5th & 6th) M. Davis WR Virg Tech or K Stills WR Okla.
5th Z Dysert QB Mia OH
6th J Madsen C West Virg
I would also look at OG L. Vasquez and RB S. Greene as FA.
Restructure: Romo, Ware, Carr
Let walk or cut:
Spencer
Jenkins
Jones
Bernaduice
Free
Poppinga

It appears that our offseason needs have changed drastically. So, lets start up a new thread here for our new needs, instead of a 55 page thread of our old needs.
So, what are we looking at?
Pass Rush Defensive Tackle?
Defensive End?
Free Safety?
Offensive Tackle?
Offensive Guard?
Quarterback (to groom)?
How would you rank in order of precedence?
Who are the free agents that fit those needs?
What draft prospects you like that fit those needs? |
Tackle - Free is not a tackle he is maybe aguard but he had a horrible year we need a bookend tackle to team with Tyron
Defensive end - spencer is gone we need a pass rusher opposite ware for the scheme to work
interior OL - we need at least one new guard and maybe a center if possible.
free safety - Johnson is an unknown, church is more of an ss and coming off Injury, sensabaugh is for the most part not very good.
pass rush DT - If Ratliff is gone this goes way up, Crawford is good and I think can be a starter at DT, we could use either a starter or young guy who can rush the passer _________________

Desperado we need someone like Floyd. If Rat plays the 1 he will still get double teamed in the run game. He is broken down from all the years of playing nt. Floyd could bring youth and energy to the 1 tech. Spears is better suited for the 1 tech on running downs. I do think Hatch will be a good 3 tech. _________________ A circle. What if we picked up Justin Durant out of Lions to play SAM LB. He's a young FA and Lions are going to have a hard time retaining all of their FA's _________________

I think Albright or Wilber can fill the spot just fine. Don't really see the need to bring in a free agent to start at that position. _________________

Very meh. Barrett Jones is really the only pick I like. Gabe Jackson is going back to school also. And I think thats way too early for Jamie Collins. _________________

We played ball together in HS and I still keep in touch with him and his mom. Needless to say coming back home to play is something both would be interested in. _________________
