Sorry T-Raves, I agree with Harp on Hankins here... I know he's your guy but Ive watched him all season and the more I watched him, the less impressed I was. _________________

I hope not. Hankins will be a good player but we need pass rush, Hankins doesn't offer much of that. We NEED an edge rusher, if we want to stick with Spags its not a want its a NEED. His system relies on it, if we can't get an edge rush we're back in the top 15 next year. |
You really didn't watch much of Ohio State if you don't think he offered much of a pass rush. Stats don't always tell you what happened in a game. That's why I said, by the end of the combine and the draft comes around, we'll see Hankins ranked pretty high. |
I've seen a few Ohio State games, I wanted to get a look at Hankins but pass rushing simply isn't his strength. He doesn't use his hands well and his pass rush moves are pretty weak overall, he's a huge powerful body but he's not going to be a 6-8 sack DT. Regardless, we need a guy who's a threat on every down, thats not Hankins. Our DEs are easily the worst in the league in terms of rushing the passer and it needs to be addressed immediately. |
Hands and moves can be fixed, but he is explosive from his first step, pushes the pocket back, and although he didn't get a lot of sacks, he collapsed a pocket that let other players make plays. Basically he is a lot like Vince Wilfork. Able to get sacks but teams normally double, if not triple team him, due to his ability to collapse the pocket disrupting both the pass and the running game. You put him next to Hicks in the starting line-up and you'll see Hicks with double digit sacks, Jordan with double digit sacks, and whoever next to them looking at double digit sacks. _________________

I can't see that happening. I also don't see this explosive first step, its good, and on par with most NFL DL but I don't want most NFL DL. I want a guy who stands out, who is the FIRST guy off the line and that is not Hankins. Hicks is doing a good job of providing interior pressure, what we need is a guy who can get around the edge and get sacks off Hicks interior pressure. THATS our problem. We need a stud DE. NEED. _________________

I'm onboard the Barkevious Mingo Bandwagon. Really hoping he falls to #15. _________________

I, personally, like Sam Montgomery way more as a prospect. Mingo disappeared way too much this year. _________________

I'm not a fan of either one, but I'd take Montgomery over Mingo. Mingo got man handled at the college level, I don't think he's a 4-3 end in the NFL. _________________

I agree on Monthomery over Mingo but the one player who would be a risk but if paid off would finally land us what we need is Ezikel Ansah... His overall skill set and size is freakish and can not be coached. The more I watch Ansah development in such a short period of time I can honestly say he's becoming my 2013 NFL draft man crush! _________________
