I was skeptical of this the entire time. The one thing Phil Emery has made very clear so far as GM is that everything stays in house. He was in Green Bay last night interviewing Tom Clements... So immedietely after that interview Emery is gunna call Trestman, offer him the job, whose going to immedietely inturn call Jimmie Johnson, so he can tweet it first thing this morning? Give me a break. _________________

Yes. Misleading big time. They interviewed Clements last night and will interview Dennison today, Bevell tomorrow, and Arians Sunday.
They also said previously they intended to bring finalists in for a second interview.
This very well could turn out to be the hire but not yet. _________________

Jimmy Johnson counts as a reporter now?
Youre slippin, Billy. Try posting when a legitimate report comes out. _________________

Early Friday morning, Jimmy Johnson sent out a tweet suggesting current Montreal Alouettes coach and former Johnson assistant Marc Trestman would be the next coach of the Chicago Bears. The Bears have declined comment about Johnson’s tweet.
Beat writers covering the team aren’t being so shy about casting doubt on the report. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune and Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times both report that there are more interviews scheduled in Chicago and other national reporters have issued the same responses to the news that Trestman has gotten the job.
The Bears have interviews scheduled with Texans offensive coordinator Rick Dennison, Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and Colts Bruce Arians in the next three days and there’s no word that those interviews have been scrapped. Beyond that, the Bears sent out word early in the process that they would have a second round of interviews with finalists before making their choice. The first round hasn’t wrapped up yet, which is further reason to believe things are still unsettled in Chicago.

We've been having a lot of false alarms in NFL News lately...
Should we consider an NFL Rumors forum? _________________

I am not a fan of when twitter is used as "sources". The rumors are becoming a little too much of the news forum.

Unfortunately I think it has something to do with the "I have to be first" syndrome. _________________

No; I just think people REALLY need to consider the source prior to posting. or find an additional source to corroborate the source. I'll update the thread title to properly reflect the actual deal here.
Also - I'm 99% certain that Rick Dennison will get the job. His strength is OL work (the biggest weakness for the Bears) was the OC for Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall in Denver, has working relationships with prior OC Mike Tice and QB coach Jermey Bates, and - most importantly - is a first time HC, which will give GM Phil Emory the clout to run the team as he wants.
Given the past 2-3 years, I felt as if there was a power struggle between Lovie Smith and Phil Emory - both had a vision that was the stark opposite of what the other wanted to do. Dennison doesn't have illusions of Mike Shanahan or Gary Kubiak-esque pull; He's there to do a job, and he's there to let others do their job.
If Dennison doesn't get it, I will be SHOCKED. _________________

Seriously this is getting on my nervous. The NFL News thread is becoming a rumors thread. |

Maybe we should just have threads dedicated to a teams search for a HC or GM.... just title it BEARS HEAD COACHING POSITION... and all posts, news would fall under that. Might slow down the threads about every move Chip Kelly, or Andy Reid makes _________________ Stay low boys.... keep those feet moving!

Take away their privilege to create new threads if someone jumps the gun. Or hide the "NFL News" section of the forum for that user for a week so they can't visit it as punishment.
I can tell you people would only create new threads only if they were sure. _________________

Yeah, makes sense that HH would hire Mark Trestman.
The other interviews are about the coaching staff.
Another era of close but no cigar. _________________ "I have to keep playing so people over 40 will have somebody to root for on Sunday afternoons." George Blanda who played until he was 46 |
