If we want to to lawyer on this Jimmy Johnson said
-Looks like, which is a non definitive statement.
-He also said NFL job, which is not guaranteed to be a HC. _________________

Heard some discussion on the radio about this. I figured it was a reporter also named Jimmy Johnson, not THE Jimmy Johnson (and if you think I'm implying the one who makes left hand turns for a living you are in the wrong place, lol).
Trestman is his friend and he clearly got out over his skis following the Chudzinski hire (another friend). As I said before, this easily could prove to be the guy but this report is probably at best premature and more than likely just speculation and wishful thinking. Trestman clearly seems to be in the running but there are several other good options left to interview and others that already have. _________________

He was in Green Bay last night interviewing Tom Clements... So immedietely after that interview Emery is gunna call Trestman, offer him the job, whose going to immedietely inturn call Jimmie Johnson, so he can tweet it first thing this morning? Give me a break. |
My take from the NFL News thread on this so called "hiring". _________________

It was, at least, Jimmy Johnson. Thats a relatively good source considering his connections to Trestman. | Unless its from an info man its not a good source. This is no better than Quinton Groves saying that Kelly was the next HC of Buffalo _________________

Hoping this news is true but I'm not betting on it just yet since there has been no official word out of Halas Hall. Seeing how Emery still has the rest of the weekend to conclude his first round of interviews I don't expect to hear anything concrete until Monday at the earliest.
I'm thinking that maybe Emery told Trestman that his chances of landing the job are high and to expect a second interview next week. I think this speculation has a lot to do with the Browns hiring of Chudzinski since Trestman also interviewed for that job. Maybe the Browns liked Trestman and he declined in favor of hoping that he'd get the Bears job instead since his interview went so well and lasted for 8 hours? Who really knows. _________________

This is a great point. Perhaps they told Trestman they wanted him to be on their staff in some capacity. _________________

As Brad Biggs pointed out - Emery isn't going out and hiring Coordinators, he's interviewing for Head Coaches. _________________

And why would Trestman leave a good situation in Montreal where he's getting paid well as a head coach to move to the NFL as just a coordinator? I'm sure he's been offered multiple jobs to be an OC in the NFL again. _________________

I'm cool with this hire, if it takes place. I'd love to see some offensive creativity in Chicago. I forgot what it looked like coming out of Soldier Field.
I wonder if he drinks Elsinore beer? |

I don't know how I feel on Trestman. If we could somehow have him at HC and McCoy at OC, I'd be confident in the hire, but thats not happening. _________________ O-Line, O-Line! Come out, come out, where ever you are!

and lock the thread |
I actually messaged Billy to suggest he edits the title so its not so misleading but he hasn't taken that suggestion. So yeah, Locking and keeping conversation in the main thread is probably appropriate. _________________
