The Philadelphia Eagles Hire Casey Bradley as the New Head Coach

-Bradley brings an ultra aggressive defensive scheme with long pressing corners on the outside with a hybrid 3-4/4-3 front 7. He is able to get guys to play for him and is a leader of men. When you look at the players on their defense it is mostly mid to late round guys and castoffs from other teams. His scheme is one that is very fun to watch, and has proven to be effective in the NFL. To start off he will run a hybrid scheme, but one by one he will get his guys in here. Initially we will run a hybrid system where we use our 4-3 personnel as well as the hybrid front 7 look/

The Eagles Hire Carl Smith as the New Offensive Coordinator

Smith was the offensive coordinator for the Saints from 1986-1996, and for the Jaguars from 2005-2007. He's gotten good production out of Byron Leftwich, David Garrard, Jim Everett, and Bobby Hebert. He's also produced a strong running game in those situations, With 9 of his 13 seasons he's run the ball over 425 times. He's done a great job with Russell Wilson this season, and sees this as one more opportunity to call his own game.

The Eagles Hire Kris Richard as the New Defensive Coordinator

He's had a hand in developing one of the best secondaries in football, and while he won't call the plays, he'd work hand in hand with Bradley to develop a gameplan, while working with the secondary guys to develop the new players being brought into the fold this offseason.

The Eagles give Jason Peters a $3,000,000 Signing Bonus (Prorated $1.85 Million Over the Next 2 Seasons), which would bring his base salary to $6.7 Million and his overall cap hit to $8.55 Million in 2013. In 2014 his base salary will be at $9.65 Million and his overall cap hit at $11.5 Million, with us saving money if we decide to cut him in 2014.

Coming off the injury the Eagles cut their cap by giving Peters $3,000,000 up front, and prorating it over the next 2 seasons while cutting his 2013 cap hit. The idea was via TheKingDP, so this is me giving credit where credit is due.

SS Colt Anderson Signs a 2 Year $2.2 Million Dollar Contract

Anderson is another core special teams player who also was probably our best safety in 2012. That obviously is a sign that our safeties were awful, but being a solid depth player and a great special teamer make him valuable to keep around. The contract pays $1.1 Million in each year.

LS Jon Dorenbos Signs a 2 Year, $1.8 Million Dollar Contract

Jon Dorenbos is a very steady long snapper. You know what you are getting with him, he's well liked in the locker room, and he's a magician. The contract pays $900,000 Each Year.

The Philadelphia Eagles Sign LT Jake Long to a 5 Year $60 Million Dollar Contract

Long comes in to bookend Peters on the left side to form one of the best Offensive Tackle Duos in the National Football League. A strong road grader in the running game and a very good man pass blocker, Long is in a man blocking scheme an elite left tackle in the NFL. In a run first offense he is a perfect fit. He, Peters, and Todd Herremans form the foundation of our offensive line, Jason Kelce will be given a shot, due to the fact it is rare the center one on one blocks anyone, but will be challenged. The Contract Pays $14,000,000 in Year One.

The Philadelphia Eagles Sign DT Alan Branch to a 4 Year $22.5 Million Dollar Contract

Coming in to be the nose tackle in the new defense and the role he played in Seattle, Branch really blossomed under Gus Bradley, and as a nose tackle was a key cog in one of the toughest defenses in the NFL. He comes in to play the NT position, while Fletcher Cox plays the UT/5T role in the defense. They both are strong run defenders, giving us strength up the middle with Branch, Cox, and Thorton rotating in. The Contract pays $6.25 Million in Year One.

The Philadelphia Eagles Sign DT/DE Pat Sims to a 2 Year, $5 Million Dollar Contract

Brought in to play the Red Bryant role as the LDE as a guy with nose tackle size and strength, with athletic ability, and length Sims is a highly talented but inconsistent player, Bradley is exactly the type of coach who could get the best out of Sims, and this system fits Sims' skillet. The Contract pays $2.5 Million each year.

The Philadelphia Eagles Sign QB Josh Johnson to a 1 Year, $1,200,000 Dollar Contract

A talented QB who can run option plays, Johnson gives us a #3 quarterback and a developmental prospect we can use for gimmick plays a la Brad Smith. The deal is obviously self explanatory.

Banks reminds me a lot of Seahawks corner Richard Sherman. He's a tall, lean and long corner who is a solid run defender, is good in coverage, strong in press due to his length, and also has the speed to stick with receivers, and while he isn't the most fluid guy due to his size, he has shown plenty fluid while covering some pretty good receivers in the SEC. He's got pretty good ball skills, and a nose for the football, forcing 13 turnovers the past 2 seasons (9 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles), while defending 16 more passes. He's in my opinion the best corner in this class, and also has an added element to help his team in the punt return game. This pick gives Bradley a press corner on the outside like Sherman to run his defense.

Swearinger is the most underrated prospect in this entire class. Many people have him in the 4th round in their mocks, but he's going to be a guy who goes in the second, and its well deserved. He's obviously an enforcer over the middle, has shown the ability to come up in the box and make a play in the running game, he's a strong blitzer, he can cover in man coverage, and can play quarters or 2 deep coverage with no problem. The only issue he may have is in single high coverage and questionable range, but I think it is good enough. He's coming in to be the strong safety, so the single high safety look won't be too big of an issue, but he's done everything for that South Carolina team in the SEC, so he's got a strong pedigree.

Brandon Jenkins is the perfect LEO hybrid rusher for the defensive scheme Bradley is bringing in to Philadelphia, and he's done a lot of whats going to be asked of him here at the collegiate level. He's played primarily with his hand in the dirt at FSU, but has played the standup/joker LB position, dropped into coverage, and shown to be a very good pass rusher. His first step is lethal, he's a flexible athlete to where he can get underneath the offensive tackle, and has violent hands. The main issue with his is that he doesn't play with a ton of lower body strength so he isn't a strong bull rusher, but his speed and burst combined with his counter pass rush still make him a nightmare for offensive tackles.

Rambo is a rangy ball hawking safety for the Georgia Bulldogs. While some may say he isn't the best tackler or isn't this or that, he's a playmaker, and its something we severely lacked in 2012. Over the past 2 seasons Rambo has forced 14 turnovers (11 Interceptions, 3 fumbles forced) and he's shown a willingness to make a play in the run game or make a big hit over the middle. If you question his ability in the running game, watch the Georgia Tech game where he forced 2 fumbles, and while he overran some plays, he made some tackles in the run game, and he also had an interception. He'll fall due to off field issues, but he's a very good option as a free safety due to his range and ballhawking ability.

With the 82nd Overall Selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles Select, Linebacker, Jamie Collins, Southern Mississippi

Collins is brought in to compete with Jamar Chaney as the weakside linebacker and play the KJ Wright role in this defense. He's shown ability at Southern Miss in all facets of the game, as he shows a solid feel in coverage, whether it be in man on a tight end or in zone he has solid awareness and athletic ability to make plays. Against the run he has shown the ability to get off blocks and make tackles, and as a pass rusher he has shown ability to get after the QB whether he plays standing up or with his hand in the dirt. He's a third rounder because of his level of competition, but he's a good football player.

Comings is a bit stiffer than you would like in a corner, but he's a big, long, and strong corner who is physically imposing on the outside. He's got the length and strength in press coverage to make life difficult for opposing receivers, has ability in zone coverage and enough ability in man with his press ability and solid recovery speed, and has solid ball skills. He's an underrated prospect due to his lack of fluidness, but he's a guy I think can play in the NFL, potentially as a starter, he's big, strong corner who has solid ball skills and willing to make plays in the running game. He's a guy who fits this defense the same way Brandon Browner does, and while Browner is a whole different animal, Commings is can play in the NFL, and I think he could be a long term starter. I was really impressed with him against Tennessee.

Devin Taylor is a long and very good athlete who I think fits the LEO role in this defense. While he lacks ideal pass rushing numbers, he's an athletic kid who if he learns to use his length and athletic ability and use it, could be a steal. He's an incredibly raw player who you're drafting based on upside, but if it works out, you have yourself a potentially special pass rusher in the mold of a Michael Johnson in Cincinatti.

Pocic is a big, man blocking center who lacks elite athletic ability, but is a pure road grader. He can probably play guard or center, so it gives you that option, and he's the polar opposite of Kelce, so if Kelce doesn't work in a man blocking scheme it gives you another option at center who might fit the scheme better.

Do you mean to run a ZBS or PBS? Because Miami might let go of Long for not being an ideal fit to the ZBS.

Bradley is overrated.


As far as the mock..it's pretty good. I mean there's definitely some bad things here.....such as:

1. There is no backup tackle other than Dennis Kelly. Terrible idea to have one backup tackle. I realize Herremans is on the roster, but still.

2. All you did to the offense was adding Long, and a 3rd round QB. And calling Josh Johnson a "developmental prospect" is being way too nice. Dude is what he is...he isn't some "project".

3. I highly doubt that we only draft ONE offensive player in the entire draft (let alone a late round center). I realize you brought in a defensive minded HC, but still a bit over the top. Wish you would have used our extra 2nd rounder on a wide receiver. '

4. Cincy is NOT going to let Pat Sims walk. Let alone let him walk only to be signed for a measly $5 million. Their defensive line is a lot better with him in.


Defensively, it's great. I love Branch. Love Banks, Swearinger, Jenkins, and Rambo. I like Commings a lot for a late round guy. Not huge on Taylor but he could be nice in the 5th - 6th round.

I mean, obviously your goal here was to completely rebuild the defense. But to completely neglect the offense like you did (other than singing a LT) is kind of obtuse.

Go ask Bengals fans how underrated Pat Sims is.


Also, PhiCelek..he was injured for half the year.

When Sims came back from his injury, the Bengals' run defense got a lot better. When he got off the PUP list, it allowed for Peko and Atkins to get off the field and rest more....Bengals' run defense all of a sudden improved when he went back in the rotation. He's a lot more valuable to their front than people think.
