Let's see how their top three draft picks perform when they're healthy before we write this draft off.

Yep, so do the six Lombardi Trophies. |
ooh, the "six rings" braggadocio that everyone always cries about inane Steeler fans resorting to. Never thought I'd see it trotted out in this thread.
PS, for fun, how many current active members of the FO were involved with the first 4 ? _________________ DIAF |

James Harrison same situation as Rainey still on the team.
Ben Roethlisberger worse situation then Rainey still on the team.
Basically if your good/great/elite your safe. _________________

Obviously disappointing that now their4th round pick and 5th round pick have major off the field problems. I know he was cut but my guess is they'll treat this like Ta'amu and bring him back but really make him earn his spot onghe team.
Either way, I expect the team to draft a Rb in rounds 2-4 and that player could very well spell the end of Rainey's short tenure in Pitt. _________________

How many teams have multiple front office members who have won 2 superbowls in the past decade? My guess is only the patriots, steelers and Giants. That seems like elite company too me _________________

Ta'Amu was released and brought back because no other team would touch him. He is looking at a minimum of 3-4 in prison unless the Steelers strike a back room deal with the judge.
Rainey will likely not face a day in jail and many other teams will show interest and someone will grab him. _________________ DIAF |

That's how it goes in business. An elite player at a premium position is worth the extra baggage. A rookie role player is not. All about having a higher value than liability and Rainey doesn't have a fraction of the value that Ben or Harrison have. _________________ Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Bruce Irvin will all have at least 1 pro bowl season each by the end of the decade.

| Seems a little bit like a chain jerk reaction, I am wondering if due to his past history there was something written in his contract that he would be cut if involved in a domestic violence type of situation? |

Rainey is a terrible offensive player, and a mediocre ST one. Who cares if he's released or arrested? He's about as replaceable as they can get.
I know, he had a few exciting plays in the preseason, and he's fast. So what. He lacks all other fundamental skills. He was never going to amount to anything with us. |

| Saw this discussed in another forum...what would you guys think of getting Reggie Bush? Might be out if our price range but it seems to me he'd be able to do everything Rainey did and more. |

There was much more to the story, some other things have been kept under wraps this season, so it looks more like a "three strikes and you are out"situation:
| Quote: | | Rainey, 24, of McCandless, also has had other recent troubles, including a citation for driving with a suspended license in September in Whitaker that was later dismissed for unknown reasons. A month ago, he was cited for defiant trespass after trying to enter the Meadows Racetrack & Casino outside Washington, Pa., from which he had banned himself, according to Magisterial District Judge Jay Weller's office. Notice of a $300 fine recently had been mailed to Rainey. |

You have such discontent for this organization so why don't you just jump ship? I swear its like dealing with other teams fans in the NFL News forum. Such apparent hatred makes no sense from a "fan". No one is defending the Ta'amu decision but we also are not using it as another of your many reasons to brow beat this organization. _________________ Stay low boys.... keep those feet moving!

Reggie is made of glass.
I seriously doubt that "lots of teams" are going to be looking at Rainey. I don't know where this idea came from. It's not a question to our management about the good players being allowed to do whatever compared to ST players, there was serious talks of Ben getting traded when he had his incident (which he was never convicted or arrested of anything, in his defense). Ben and James are team leaders, if they f up off the field, they're given the chance to come back from it. Both of them stayed pretty clean afterwards.
Rainey is a first year ST player, who apparently had numerous bad off the field incidents. Getting banned from the Meadows, seriously? He's not some superstar. He's accomplished nothing in this league. There isn't going to be a line to get to him. |

There's no way they are bringing back Rainey after yet another bad incident. They already gave him his chance when they drafted him and he blew it. Some players will never learn and seize the opportunity for a fresh start. It seems like Rainey is one of the guys. _________________
