I signed up to run the Chargers in a GM mock draft and I have a couple of questions for you guys:
What do see as your offseason needs?
Do you have all seven picks?
Which current players shouldn't be on the team next year?
Thanks for your help. _________________

Offensive line.
Center is the only position that doesn't need an upgrade. |

Thanks. Seems like you need a cb as well. Do you expect to have Jammer back? _________________

It's hard to say who's going to be back, or not. Should have a new GM, and HC, so everything is going to change. _________________

Needs as i see them at this point...in a general idea of priority...
CB, OG, RT, Pass rusher (wouldnt draft a pass rusher unless hes a #1 guy), ILB (thumper), WR, OL again and some more OL. Backups like a RB or WR is probably more a FA type pickup. _________________

Sounds like we need new starters to replace Jammer Green and Clary.
No trades yet involving 2013 picks? _________________

Yes, exactly, Vasquez is workable, but can be upgraded. C and LT are good, as long as Gaither's healthy. I would suggest a higher pick on a RT who can be a workable LT like Eric Fisher or Taylor Lewan in the 2nd or 1st round respectively. _________________

What's this about losing Green? I like Tyronne Green.
Offensive line (besides LT and C) needs help, yet our GM doesn't usually draft OL high in the draft, CB is almost certainly going to be a 1st or 2nd round pick this year
What about WR/TE? It's time IMO. _________________

We have Green behind Gates who is still going strong. And VB will be back, and DA has been exceptional. _________________

Through two rounds of this mock draft, I have taken Taylor Lewan and Jordan Poyer. I'm thinking I'll target offensive line or safety with the next pick. _________________

RJ for GM.
OLB or OL, not safety. We have a great safety and a young prospect.
If we got Lewan and Poyer in the real draft, I'd be in heaven. _________________

Might consider QB as well, Glennon hasnt been picked yet. If he is available then it might be worth a 3rd to invest in the future incase Rivers continues his recent trend. Would set Glennon up to understudy for 2 years. _________________

There's no reason to do that until Rivers fails with an actual line. _________________

Yeah, I'd say you can go in any number of directions. Taking a safety just for the sake of taking a safety is kind of pointless. Unless you're getting a guy with elite upside, you run with Brandon Taylor for a year to at least see what he can bring to the table. Safety is something of a luxury position (not as much in the modern NFL, but still...) insomuch as we really rarely see any noteworthy ones holding down long-term positions (i.e. drafted and get extensions with the club that drafted them) that aren't taken in the first couple rounds of the draft.
OLB - even if it's an Aldon Smith type who only really projects as a situational pass-rusher as a rookie - is a good option. Guard - or even depending on who is available a center who projects to be able to play guard (and could back up center - push/challenge Molk long-term) - is another one, since 3rd and 4th round is usually the money rounds for guards. Even the right ILB, NT (not as big a fan of taking an NT after the 2nd as you just typically don't find multi-dimensional guys which is what you need/want in a guy if you're grooming him to be a future starter), or RB are also options if the right prospect is there. Putting a RB on this team, in a Ben Tate (or Matt Forte to then-Bear Cedric Benson) sort of way, who could pose a legitimate threat to cutting into Mathews' reps if he doesn't button down and start working to correct his flaws could do a world of difference for this club. That said, that type of RB needs to be a guy who comes in with pro-ready pass-blocking skills otherwise he's no threat whatsoever as his potential to see the field as a rookie is severely limited. _________________

I was thinking safety because you guys were complaining about your safety play in one of your gameday threads. _________________
