Helmsley of e.s.p.n. reports Browns have the second most cap money at over 49 million. Bengals first at over 55 million. We have some money to spend. Start by signing Dawson and extending Mack and Ward. _________________ browns and indian fan 7272

How much money do the Browns HAVE to spend next year?
-This number is 89% of the salary cap. Which is $107.6M
-For the Browns, to get to that number, they would have to spend $28.77M base on the standard cap figure. That number is $18.75M taking into account the dead money.
-Also, remember, the Browns do not HAVE to spend this money, but if they don't they will have to pay the league the remaining figure.
Looks like your off 20 mill or so to me unless I miss read it. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

So the Browns have to spend what? Over 25 Mil at least to get to the floor.
Even if we extend Mack, we still end up with around 20 to burn.
We gonna be busy bees.
Sad thing is we still probably have to overpay for someone because we are the browns.
I expect one of Byrd, Levite, Wallace, Bowe or Michael Johnson joining this team. _________________

I'd love a pair of 25ish good CB and FS free agent tandum. It would open up the draft SO much and at the same time fill significant holes. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

So we have to spend a boat load of money or else? Well I would hope we over bid for the top talent in the FA pool then.
that is all

No, I'm of about 10M, which is the same amount of dead money.
What you quoted me on was to meet the floor, not the cap.
The Browns have 78M in player salary for next year, so unless they expext the cap to be higher than I predicted (and I provided links for this prediction), the browns can't have 45 in cap space.
The only other variable is the rollover. Which I couldn't find a complete description of. _________________ 2013 First Ballot Recipient of the Joe Blackburn Award |

You saw the free agents last season. I think Washington had to pay a lot to get Garcon and Morgan. It's not just us. The way they structured the new CBA and the rookie wage cap, it was for this very reason. Honestly, when it comes to contracts in the NFL, I really don't worry about them at all. You sign a guy to a 5 year, 60 million deal, and he sucks, well you pay him 25 of that over first two years then free yourself out of the deal after the second year. The other professional sports aren't like that. You're on the hook until the contract is up. _________________

That would be awesome. I would like the Browns to use free agency to pick up the DB's also. I would add that a vet WR would be nice too. Can get a pass rusher in the draft. _________________

Is it too early to be sporting a chubby
Seriously, we have a "few" needs on defense, but they are significant holes.
This team has a glaring need at FS and CB to say the least.
While we need a legit pass rusher, fixing those 2 positions overhauls this defense immensely.
After the way Te'o looked the other night, there are only a few guys I am interested in. I am leaning more towards a trade-down now to get Warmack and a 2nd rounder .... but would be OK staying at 6 and getting Woerner/Moore - who I think will develop into a very solid DE prospects to pair with Sheard.
This defense immediately becomes top 10 - and is scary for the future. _________________ Always rooting against Pittsburgh and Baltimore ... |

If Cincy has even more money than we have available, I'm not sure if they let Michael Johnson get away. It's probably a safe bet that we can cross him off of our "wish list." _________________
