Well, maybe Andy Reid will decide that he doesn't want Geno. And then Steve Keim forgets how to draft and trades a boatload of picks to the Jags to move up and select Geno, thereby vindicating Caldwell's selection as GM.

Alright. I don't know how good Caldwell will be, hell, he may be crap. But I'll be damned if I don't feel a little... what was that called again? Excitement?! knowing that we have a GM other than Gene Smith.
Now all Shad has to do is offer Cowher 10 milli a year, get Lovie at DC, Norm at OC, and trade his yacht for Tom Brady.

All of this stuff was said about gene smith when he was hired.
He received praise from guys like tom coughlin and was said to be a great talent evaluator.
Gene smith was supposed to make this franchise a winner, and most everyone believed all of that; including myself as one of the biggest optimists.
Now caldwell is getting all of this praise. If tom gamble was hired he would be getting all of the praise, same things with steve keim, marc ross and any other candidate that they could have hired.
Lets all take a chill pill before getting our hopes up. This upcoming draft sucks at the QB position, and that happens to be our biggest weakness.
His resume up to this point is entirely backed by having a franchise quarterback for his team. Having a peyton manning or matt ryan at the helm makes any general managers job extremely easy.
The QB position is not a quick fix here. If we draft geno smith we will be screwed.
If he comes away with some impact players into next season then I will be impressed, but at this point this is all just the optimism that comes with any hire.
Lets keep that in perspective. |

I'm happy we got our guy. I'd also be happy with your scenario. _________________

Schefty said no final decision has been made but very unlikely KING CALDWELL keeps Mularkey as the HC.
Fantastic news. _________________

I hope you're right. I know Roman is the name mentioned most, but I'd prefer a defensive-minded coach (9ers or Hawks DC's come to mind). I'm not saying the right hand man of one of the better coaches in football is a bad thing though. _________________
