I believe at very worst we'll be franchising him again, but at this point he's going to be our top priority this offseason. I'd expect him to be pretty pricey, as that's why he currently doesn't have a longterm deal. _________________

We need to resign him. He's been one of the best safeties in the league for a couple years now. I think they'll get it done by a contract or F tag. _________________

Oh it'll definitely be a contract or franchise tag. I'll be shocked beyond belief if he's not a 49er next year. _________________

A huge piece of this defense, we can't afford to lose him. He sets the tone with his vicious hits and timely turnovers. I think the FO realizes that and gives him a nice extension in the offseason. _________________

Is it certain? No, but it would be a pretty shocking development if he hits the open market. He likes the team and the team likes him, and if it is only dollar amounts standing between them and making a deal then the worst case for the lot would be to use the franchise tag again. I suspect that a lot of the signings and the way they have been structured recently have been with this dispute in mind. We have the money to be able to sign him, and I would bet we will get a contract in place before draft time. _________________

Don't think he'll get a long term deal. Franchise tag, yes. _________________

I've been pretty critical of goldson in the past, but at this point I think he's played well enough to get an extension. I wanted consistently good play from him, which is why I liked the tag for this year, and he's delivered. I wish we could pair him with a better coverage safety though. No way he's not back next year unless he holds a grudge about being franchised this year. _________________
