Ill to into next year with the same "objective" this year. I want to see Ponder progress, I think the team overachieved so if we go back to an 8-8 team I'm okay for that but the year after that must be an improvement. I would say next year is the year that really shows what our team is about and if its still a .500 team or more, I will want to see improvements from then. _________________ XBL/PSN: Chainedsniper |

It is unacceptable if Adrian Peterson only rushes for 1900 yards! _________________

For Ponder there needs to be progression, but it is how you define progression. If they go 8-8 but Ponder plays like he did in past four games, that is enough progression to keep him around. Even if he has two or three bad games but the majority 10+ are like the end of the season was, that's enough progression.
And I'm looking for progression from Bill Musgrave as well. Alan Williams progressed in his play calling this year, Musgrave might have slightly when Harvin went down, but Musgrave needs to improve his play calling. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

Obviously any kind of regression is never really acceptable. No progress isn't necessarily horrible. If we go 10-6 again and lose in the first round of the playoffs it will be upsetting but we will just keep building. Ponder needs to progress and i think we will as long as we give him WRs. Outside of that this looks like it might develop into another ponder thread _________________

I want to see progression from Adrian Peterson.
2,097 yards is not enough.
And I don't want to hear any more excuses like a torn ACL or anything. _________________

Peterson can progress, but does that mean he has to rush for more yards to be progressing?
Its the same story with Jared Allen. He puts up a 22 sack season and follows it up with a 12 sack season and most say he regressed or had a down year. 22 is a huge number to follow up, just like 2097 will be for Peterson. I wouldnt doubt it if he reached that number again, but even if Peterson runs for 1300-1500 people will say he regressed and had a down year despite 1300-1500 being the standard for most elite backs. |

What is amazing is that he wasn't any where close to being full strength to start the season. That alone makes me think another 2000 yard season is not out of question. _________________

| The progress I'd like to see from AD and our offense. More swing passes and screens to AD. |

I would rather not, personally. It will only add to his touches. The Vikings need to find receivers who can make plays in the passing game, not rely on Peterson for more touches. That is what killed Tomlinsons career. Being a workhorse back and catching 60+ passes per year. |

| The only thing I'd like to see AD improve on is his pass blocking so he can stay on the field on crucial 3rd downs. |

Well, i am not sure it really matters. I mean, the third down back in most cases is simply an extra blocker. They are actually a very valuable part of the protection. Peterson likely wouldnt get touches in that situation anyway, so you may as well take him out and avoid extra hits when Gerhart is more than capable of a blocker.
I think the third down receiving back is a dying breed, given how aggressive defenses have become blitzing. |

I think it could be valuable in disguising the play call, especially if the team wants to run playaction on 3rd down. With Gerhart out there on 3rd down, the opposing team knows it's going to be a pass 99% of the time. If Peterson is out there, it's much more of a guessing game. |

Peterson actually has been out there for some third downs I've noticed. Not sure of an exact number, but Gerhart only had six snaps in the playoff game. _________________
