He's younger, efficient as can be and is improving.
Everyone hates on the ASmith tho |
I don't think he's a scrub and I don't want to quit on Weeden.
I think Alex is just a game manager that won't scare a defense |
Im on board for another year of weeden but if you think the most tipable ball in the game and all of his picks and what seems to be his newfound gunshy nature scare defenses more than A Smith I think you're mistaken |
I think Smith is often underrated and underappreciated. That said, he also had a healthy veteran RB that was averaging almost 5.4 yards per carry, and almost 100 yards from scrimmage a game as well.
He also had experienced vets like Crabtree and Manningham at WR and a top defense. Still, he was sacked 24 times in 9 games (9.9% sack rate) and he threw for over 232 yards ONCE in 9 games.
Who was he scaring? _________________

The next HC will dictate the direction the team will go. First and foremost will be the QB decision. Personally, I like a proven QB like Smith, Flynn, or Vick for a 2 yr deal. McCoy and Weeden can be trade bait or backup.
The draft will yield 2-3 players that should start or play significantly with the remaining picks to be developed by competent coaching staff. I like drafting all D players: DE, S, CB, and speed LB with the outside chance of signing Reed or Grimes. In the later rounds, we can get a punter and FB possibles.
FA can be an effective tool for O with QB above, G Levitre or comparable, TE(draft if Reed or Grimes signs), and #2 WR if cap money allows.
In our division, we must be able to run the rock and that means a NFL G with a FB who knows how to block and pick up blitz. On D, we must be able to stop the run, put pressure on QB, and have playmaker in D backfield at the S position like Reed and Troy. Of course, the NFL is a passing league which means we need a NFL QB. |
