| Well, the team would certainly be younger. That's about all I've got. |

I really like it!
The only thing I don't like is keeping Gerhart around. Any chance we try shipping him for a draft pick? _________________

Gerhart has more value to this team than he does to any other. I doubt we could even get a 4th for him at this point. _________________

Audie Cole starting would be a major concern, solid besides that. _________________

Cole competing for a starting job next year wouldn't be a terrible thing.
In this scenario Ogletree and Greenway would be the nickle backers anyway so Cole would be, at most, a two down backer. _________________

Yep.
With Brinkley downgraded to base MLB only, he played only 14 snaps in the 2nd Greenbay game. I'd be willing to bet it's a similar amount in this last game. With that few snaps, I just don't see any reason to keep the guy around. Cole can give us similar, if not better, on field production, while costing less. Also, with so few snaps, we won't need to rotate McKenzie in the game, so it shouldn't effect his special teams duties much. |

I have no problem letting Brinkley go, but the Packers (and Lions) are exceptions. Most games you will play just as much, if not more, base 4-3 as nickel. _________________

| Personally, this seems like an ideal offseason though i doubt it would happen. I can see the offense being scary next year if Ponder can continue to develop and use these new weapons. I doubt Rick would do this though, too much money being spent. I also don't think Ogletree will be around in the late 2nd round, we would have to trade up. |

Vikings spend a great deal of time in the nickel. I'd wager it's 2/3 nickel to base. _________________

I remember VR had the number earlier in the year, and it was something like 60-70% Nickel.

Personally, I expect Ogletree to go 1st, too, but that's why I chose to go by CBSsports rankings - to take my own biases out of the picture.
If he does go higher, then we can take him in the first and go CB in his spot (Poyer, maybe) or we go Gerald Hodges or Arthur Brown in the 2nd. Brown and Hodges probably don't have the potential to grow into the MBL position like Ogletree does, though. |

The 4 games vs the Packers and Lions skew that though. I'd guess at least 85% nickel in those games.
Regardless, good mock. Only change I'd make is another option at LB. _________________

Really minor update:
I moved Fred Evans to the starter at NT and Brandon Williams to backup.
I think it's more realistic that a veteran in Fred Evans (who came on strong towards the end of the year) would start next year over a 4th round, small school rookie. |
