Going to be a great duo going forward, especially if we address the DL. _________________

strengths/weaknesses? I kinda expected more turnovers from them, although as a Steelers' fan, I think they had 1 interception too many

Not enough pressure from the DL to create TOs. _________________ Quote from May 7, 2013...

They were only ok. Carr was very inconsistent, occasionally shutdown but often torched. Claiborne had a couple bad games but was solid otherwise. He was mostly abused by quick passes, which I hope is just struggles in adjusting to the speed of the game. Hopefully much better next year. _________________

They were excellent, unless you had absurd expectations. We're still poor at safety, mediocre as a pass rush and had to devote all available resources to defending the run after all the injuries, yet these two (one a rookie) still managed to hold their own as well as any duo in the league. I'm very pleased with how they both played this season. _________________ http://youtube.com/watch?v=v_j8lLDVGgY&mode=related&search= |

Our lack of pressure and poor Safety play really show how well they played this year, they both had a span of 2 to 3 poor games, but outside of that they've been stellar.
If we get some better pressure next year/reliable Safeties,I'm sure the turnovers will come. _________________

Claiborne played above average which is fantastic for a rookie corner. Most guys spend 3 years known as burnt toast, so it's encouraging. Then again so did Mike Jenkins before going into a full on soph. slump so let's hope Claiborne can avoid that.
Carr was very solid and had fantastic coverage on several plays that gave up a TD. One in particular his finger was within a few MM's of taking away the TD - similar to that finger nail that got hte best of Dez. _________________

Early in the season Carr and Claiborne were playing a lot of bump coverage, but as the injuries piled up I think Ryan realized that we wouldnt be able to get enough pressure on opposing quarterbacks to play that kind of coverage on the outsides.
During the last half of the season both corners were both playing off their mans at the snap, and that is something that both corners can do well, but they would both fair a lot better getting physical with wide receivers at the line of scrimmage.
Some added talent on the D line/any pass rush help possible, some better safety play, a little improvement, and i think that both of them could have outstanding years next year. |

Both were a visible upgrade over anything weve had in Dallas in YEARS. It was fun to watch them go press coverage before all the injuries to the rest of the def. _________________

Not sure if this was by design or not but it seemed Clairborne played too far off at times _________________

He and Carr were forced to play off due to our lack of safety play and lack of pressure on QB. _________________

This is true. They both had great coverage, especially Claiborne was impressive as a rookie.
But more pressure from the D line and a safety who can get in position would help make the QB force throws some more I think. |
