I'm hearing alot of chatter about Mike Holmgren being on our radar. I haven't seen much here about it though. I like the idea just as long as the GM isn't pig headed and would give Mike more power as far as personnel decisions. But it would put fans in the seats as well as give us a great football mind. _________________ New Regime = New Team... Now start building it and make it your own. |

Personally, I don't think he would put fans in the seats until he wins, as he'd be seen as a "retread coach". It'd take a Chip Kelly like person to just put fans in the seats by their presence alone. _________________

NFL insider Jason LaCanfora reported the news on CBS' pregame show Sunday. Now 64, Holmgren hasn't coached since leaving the Seahawks in 2008, but has made it clear that he's open to a return to the sidelines. The Bolts are also said to be interested in ex-Bears coach Lovie Smith, though Colts OC Bruce Arians has been considered the favorite all along. |
Posted that in the other thread earlier today.

You're way off. My wife even knows who Holmgren is. The casual fan knows he's won a SB, and that he was a great coach for a long time. That will put fans in the seats.
You have to pay a lot of attention to college ball to know who Kelly is. It'd take a HUGE name for a college coach to fill the seats. _________________

That said, Acee singled out both Holmgren and Mora as being guys he doesn't see fitting Dean's apparent "no retreads" want (the issue with Holmgren may be age as well).
He also said that folks should note there's a difference between guys the team may have "interest" (or as Dean put it in his puff-piece Q&A guys who "intrigue them") and coaches who are serious candidates for the job. _________________

If Holmgren's age is a problem, then Arians' probably is too. He's 60.
If they don't want a retread, and they want a younger guy, then none of the candidates that all of the talk has been about fit. Are we going to get a surprise at the last second? _________________

At least they could afford a new stadium if that happened. When the fans the fans revolt, and burn down The Murph, they should be able to afford a new one with the insurance money. _________________

Would be an option if Dean thinks the only way he gets a new stadium is from an insurance payout after fans burn the Murphy to ground. _________________

Browns, please please please do the right thing and save us from Arians. And someone else save us from Mora. Narrow down the list please and get us a good one! _________________
