On the topic of offseason awards...
Jon Ekstrom @JonEkstrom
Peter King lists @JASully65 [John Sullivan] , @AdrianPeterson and @BlairWalsh3 as All-Pros. Gives AD the MVP. #Vikings
Looks like a good list for all-pros to me. Is an all-pro award given to fullback? If so I'm assuming he gave Vonta Leach the nod. _________________

I wasnt sure if I should make a new thread for this, but it seems like it should fit here. I found a website that broke down all player contracts including their 2013 cap hits. I compiled a list of the 2013 cap hits for each player under contract for reference this offseason. Sorry about the terrible layout, couldnt figure out a better way.

| That 17 million plus Jared Allen cap hit has got to be one the first things they deal with. Hopefully they extend him and the new money goes to getting a upper tier WR. |

Agreed, Allen will surely get taken care of, to not only reduce the cap hit, but to add more years. Allen can still be a valuable piece to the immediate future as a 10-14 sack per yr RE. |

I think a 4 year deal is perfect for Allen. Takes him to 35 years old and lets him assess what he wants to do from there. _________________

Let just say hypothethically that Allen/Winfield/K-Williams are not re-negoitating their salary (under their agents direction), until mid-off-season. Essentially they want to take their time, as they are not necessarily in any rush and I'm sure their agents want to see what some of the other free agents at their respective positions get
What does Rick do?
Lets remember that this is a very fair assessment of what may happen. How much money do they actually have to play with (without having to hit deal with the vets first, because potentially by the time you deal with the vets, you could have missed your chance on the actual free agents) ?
What if their agents are stubborn, what would you want to do? What do you think Rick does based on his past? _________________

Kevin Williams is easy for me, if he doesnt want to sign a cheaper deal you cut him. Williams's play really fell of by season's end and if he and his agent are going to throw a stink, you release. Or perhaps trade him for a late round pick if the cap hit isnt bad.
Winfield has to be kept, he is still a strong player and I can live with paying him $7M next year.
Jared Allen has to be kept as well. Though I think Allen is in the best position to renegotiate given that he is the youngest and still has a career ahead of him. I dont expect Allen to throw a fit if the Vikings go to him wanting to redo his deal. Allen probably wants to win now, so if he can shave off $7M off his deal to add a top free agent, im sure he would be on board.
If Allen does refuse, you pay him his full deal and sit tight on what salary you have. |

I agree with that assessment as I was thinking it as well:
Under that scenario:
K-Will is cut
Winfield is kept (@ 7M)
Allen - I could potentally seeing him (via his agent) not being prompt in re-negoitating his salary, and I'd keep him at the current salary if need be.
I dont think we'd actually have this amount of money to spend this offseason as are being forcasted in the mocks. _________________

If Frazier has s say at all K-Will is going to be back next year.
Allen would be smart to renegotiate and get more guaranteed money. By extending his contract it's impossible, and against the CBA, for him to lose money in 2013. That money is his and by extending he would just get the money up front in a signing bonus instead of 17 weekly checks. _________________

In a GM mock... Jags GM drove the price for Phil Loadholt up to 9.0M citing JJ Watt being in his division. _________________

K-Will should be cut unless he can re-negotiate, He's solid but isn't near the player he used to be and we could address his position in the draft
Hopefully Winfield will take less money than 7 million for the good of the team but otherwise id pay him what he wants
Hypothetically if Allen won't re-negotiate to get his cap number under control i don't know what to do. I would almost test the market and see if you could get a 1st or 2nd rounder for him. I would hate to lose him but i don't think Griffen and Robinson would be as big of a drop off as we think. I don't think that'll be a problem though. |

Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero
#Vikings announced they've signed punter T.J. Conley and CB Greg McCoy, who has been in camp with Arizona.
So the roster filling begins. _________________

I cut Kluwe in Madden for Conley.
I like the competition though. _________________
