1. QB to compete with Ponder. He deserves now to start coming into next year but not without competition. |
Does that mean you're going to update your sig?
Vikings fan give ponder every excuse. What has he done to be given so much excuses. |
ummmmmmmm no. I still feel like he has been given a lot of excuses. _________________ All in for the underdog vikings making a push this season. |

One of the things that stuck out to me last night was the dump off over the line where the MLB should be. I know I've been harping on this all season, but I really want a MLB that doesn't have to come off of the field. _________________

But your sig asks what Ponder has done to be given so much excuses [sic]. You just stated that you think he deserves to start next season. Doesn't that mean Ponder has done something to justify the faith and confidence that others have expressed in him? _________________

Agreed. However, you have to keep guys like Brinkley, Sanford, and maybe even Simpson as a #4. We've saw in 2011 how having little depth killed our team. Keep some of those younger guys and continue to build through the draft. _________________

I would not be surprised if we make some surprising moves this year.
Mainly:
1) Letting Kevin Williams walk and sign a big name DT in Free Agency
2) Trading Percy Harvin during the draft
3) Letting Erin Henderson, Marcus Sherels, and Jerome Simpson walk
4) Cut Carlson/Webb/Jenkins
5) Draft a new Punter
Lets not forget, this team is still rebuilding. I don't think any of these moves are out of the question. _________________

This would only be surprising since it's not possible. Williams is apparently under contract for 2 more season.

Wouldn't be surprising at all at this point.

The only one that would be surprising is letting Sherels go, since he's still a quality punt returner. It would be more surprising if Simpson and Henderson are brought back.

This one would be surprising, since Kluwe is still a quality player. I think it would be more likely that we go out and get a new long snapper, since Loeffler struggled badly at times this year.
Edit:

I get Sanford, he's been fairly good at times this year, but I see absolutely no reason why we'd have to keep Brinkley or Simpson next year and plenty of reasons why we shouldn't keep either - especially Brinkley. He doesn't give us anything on the field that we couldn't get from Audi Cole.

At this point, Simpson adds nothing. I would only bring him back in June or July if the Vikes didnt add enough in free agency or in the draft. |

Yep, but it clearly states that he's in a contract year. |

In talking with Tom Pelissero and doing some research Kevin Williams isn't scheduled to be a free agent. The last two years of his deal were thought to be option years, but they are just normal years in his contract. |

Regardless if he is or isnt a free agent, $5-7 million is still way too much for Williams. I am more than content moving on, I just didnt see the same player in the first half of the year as the second half.
Williams had a nice career here, but like Hutchinson, youve got to part ways when you could get similar production out of a cheaper and younger player. |

I don't think we HAVE to. Brinkley specifically, I see no reason we have to have him back. The other two, I'd have no problems if they returned. Especially Sanford. _________________

This is what I've been saying. Brinkley is probably the most replaceable player on our roster.
Or maybe 2nd most replaceable after Devin Aromashadu. |
