This. Wouldn't mind keeping Martin either as a special teamer. _________________

Like it or not I imagine Fitz will be here..
As far as I know, we save extremely minimal money by cutting him.. Plus we have nobody to replace him..
You think Fitz is bad, try Thigpen or Tarvaris..
Draft a rookie, develop him under Fitz, then hand over the reigns.. _________________

Exactly. There's no benefit in getting rid of Fitz, and keeping him around and letting a rookie sit and develop behind him is very smart. _________________

Yup. Been saying this for a while. No sense gutting a position completely and then hoping we find someone more successful. Keeping Fitz is not a perfect solution, but it keeps us from taking a step backwards. _________________

I also agree with this. The quality of our interior depth would take a hit with the loss of Rinehart. McKelvin is not the answer at CB, but put him way down on that depth chart so you can keep one of the best returners in the league. He is a legit weapon on ST's. _________________

I think Andy Levitre will be the first casualty of "football analytics." With him coming out and saying they haven't offered him a contract. I think he told them the range he wanted to be in. They've decided they don't want to commit that amount of money to a Guard. Regardless of how good he is. _________________

From what I've heard this is the year to dump him because he'll account for even more dead money next year. I'd like to have him as a back up but unless his contract is restructured, and from his perspective there's no benefit to doing so, it doesn't make sense to keep him. If he's here, he's not going to be the starter in 2014 and may not be the starter in 2013. Why tie up cap room this season and next for a guy who isn't part of the short or long term plan?
I think cutting him and trading a draft pick for Kirk Cousins is the way to go. He is Fitz 2.0, someone who is a good back up and a middle of the pack starter.
Maybe bringing in Chase Daniel is an option. He's sat behind Brees, he's been decent in the preseason, his regular season play limited as it is has been good...and he's got a Super Bowl ring! Chase is Fitz 3.0
Other free agents like Jason Campbell, Matt Moore or Drew Stanton are all interchangeably blah but from a financial aspect make more sense than keeping Fitz.
Of course this all depends on what the new offensive coordinator wants to do... |

Tashard Choice
Ruvell Martin
Kirk Morrison
George Wilson
Rian Lindell
Spencer Johnson

Wouldn't be surprised if Mark Anderson and Nick Barnett get replaced |

I pray to God Barnett is replaced. Can't stand him as a player. I'd give Anderson another shot. _________________

Actually the bills save $500k if cutting fitz it may not be a lot but you also have to take in consideration the $3 million bonus they he gets in march if still on roster so in actuality the bills save $3.5 million and have more cap space. I don't care if a qb isn't out there to answer the bills problems but it prevents the bills from paying this guys contract this year and next year by cutting him now. You guys have to look long term on his contract to understand why it would be dumb for the bills to keep him and not cut him now. _________________

I agree with much of what Billsguy82 said with his cut list. I think one that not many have said is Lindell with be let go especially the way the rookie kickers have come in the league the past two season with a lot of success. I think the new coach with want a totally new slate at the QB position and bring in his own guy. I wouldnt hate Fitz to be here but I just dont think it makes sense to keep around a 9 mil dollar back up who just isnt getting the job done. _________________
