Figures for some off-season discussion we could rank the top players of 2012. Feel free to use whatever standard you would like, just stay consistent throughout the process. This poll will be open for 2 days.
Who was our top player of 2012? Vote and Discuss!
Rules:
1. If you Vote, also give a brief explanation as to why. This is to generate insightful discussion.
2. Don't ask me what top player means to me. What does it mean to you. Best, Healthiest, Most consistent, Whatever standard you use, stick to it.
3. I will have 10 players in every round. After your explanation if you would like to nominate a player, I am open to it.
4. I am the final arbitrator on everything including but not limited to ties. My word is law. And I do accept bribes.
5. I didn't add King Cole to this first round to troll the forum. Refer to rule 4. _________________

This is tough. Personally, I would have had Spencer up there as I feel he was our most consistent player all season.
Out of those listed, I suppose I would have to vote for Witten. I know he started off slow, but considering he was dealing with the repercussions of a lacerated spleen, I'm willing to give him a pass. He overcame those early mistakes, said he would get better and went on to have a record season. _________________

I voted for Witten. He starts the season down for the count, and a few question if he would ever play again. He had an awful start - and yet it was widely recognized that his presence during the first game (when we stomped the Giants and Mara in their house) galvanized the team. Quoting the Marines to attempt to sway management to play is ballsy. He recovers and goes on to have a history season for a TE. BOSS!
I also vote to add A. Spencer to the list next time. Because I was an idiot and forgot him. _________________

I am going to give it some thought, but its likely going to be Dez.
I think I am only going to use the impact made in 2012 alone. So Lee and Carter will be knocked down the list due to injuries. Romo will be weighted down for losing several multi interception games including the Redeskins Game.
I can literally see myself putting Dez, Carr and Spencer in the top 5. _________________

Witten likely will fall in my top 5, but his importance was not #1. _________________

But could you not argue that he played at an elite level - at a historically elite level - despite his health concerns? Culminating that with the intangibles he brought to the table makes him a strong case for #1. _________________

Sure, he was key to our success. Not arguing that. Maybe I am just so used to him being awesome that I am downplaying the significance.
I just think that the playmaking ability of Dez is one of the prime reasons we were in contention to win the NFC E. Lets be honest, Witten is a HOF TE, but playmaker he is not. He is not a Graham/Gronk type guy. _________________

I voted for Dez. Frankly, I don't think it's close. _________________ Quote from May 7, 2013...

Why don't you think it's close? And why are you voting for Dez? _________________

I voted for Witten. Both Dez and Witten started off the season slow, but I feel that overall Witten's career season had overall a bigger impact. People tend to forget how good he is in blocking. Its very close though. _________________

It's Dez. There isn't a player on the Dallas roster who is as impactful as Dez including Ware. He has more talent than anyone and he is the best player on Dallas. Imagine him playing for a real oc. _________________ A circle. The direction the Cowboys continue to travel. |

| I voted Dez. I think next in line would have to be spencer--even though i have hated him all these years...i sitll dont think we should re sign him though. We have too many young guys that will need large contracts in the near future and i dont know if spencer is worth the kind of money he is going to get. |
