Ray Lewis announced he is retiring at the end of the season. |
He announced to the team that this will be his last ride and will call it a career after these playoffs. _________________

We knew it was coming, but I'm not still not ready. Don't think I'll ever be ready. _________________

I'm going to miss him in the big Monday night games. Pregame speeches that made you want to tackle your tv. Great leader on and off the field. My favorite LB of all time. _________________

Sad sad day to this new year.. But if you think about it, Ray Lewis is one of the best motivators this game has and will ever see. If you think this had no plan to it, your mistaken. Our guys aren't going to let Ray walk away from this game not on top. Watch this Sunday.. These guys will be playing like you've never seen before |

I won't lie, I got a bit emotional when I read this on NFL.com a few minutes ago. I suppose it was always likely to be the case, but actually seeing it confirmed really brings it home.
I guess it's redundant to say things won't be the same without him out there, considering the Ravens have never played a game of football without Ray Lewis being a part of the roster. It's going to be really weird, next season.
And this now makes Sunday's game bigger than ever, because if Ray plays, it will be the last game he ever plays at M&T Bank Stadium (unless a string of unlikely results bring the AFC Championship Game to Baltimore). This has to be a game that absolutely everyone is hyped and prepared and straining at the leash to go and win.
This has been such a tumultuous season for the whole organisation. All the injuries, everything that's happened off the field with coaching changes, personnel changes, personal and collective losses, and now this. I hope that Ray's getting that feeling again that something special has to be in store for us.
If he does choose to go into broadcasting for a while, I'd love to see if that chump, Heath Evans, dares to make those sly, 'I'm just calling it how I see it, honest' digs at the Ravens organisation when Ray freakin' Lewis is in the same studio as him. _________________

| Its very bittersweet news. On one side, I'm happy hes leaving on top, unlike some all-time greats who stick around too long. But its going to feel odd not to see #52 in the middle enforcing the defense. |

Well...I am 21 years old and never got see Ray Lewis play in an NFL game outside of the TV. My life sucks. This is going to be something I always will regret.
Dang, I'm just at a complete loss of words right now. Definitely buying a Ray Lewis jersey and keeping it until the day I pass. _________________

Knew it would happen eventually. Hoped it could be put off longer. Hopefully we can send him out with some more hardware. _________________

Nice! I think we are in seats 13-16. I'll likely be rocking my white Flacco jersey. _________________
