|
The draft isn't over yet, but, I do not have picks in the 3rd or 4th rounds, here is my hand at the Bengals in the Mock forums offseason. I still have 5 more picks in the 5th-6th rounds to take role players at TE, interior OL, LB, and CB. Looking for thoughts/feedback.

Interesting. Not a fan of a DT in round 2, but Brown is a fantastic pick.
I also like the McFadden trade a lot _________________

Everything but trading Gresham for a backup QB looks good to me. _________________ "Work Hard, Play Hard" |

I like Goldson but don't see why we needed to trade Nelson whose been great for us. Also not a fan of getting rid of Dunlap... _________________

Gresham trade was Stanzi to replace Gradkowski and what ended up being DJ Swearinger (SS) _________________

Figured a build for the future/trade cap type approach...Essentially traded Reggie Nelson and Dunlap for Gholston (better than Nelson - but will not resign - gets Comp pick) Cliff Avril, and 4 draft picks to replace aging vets. _________________

I don't hate the trade. Dunlaps potential is just so great. _________________

Which is something I can't replace, but what I did get was a 8-14 sack a year guy, a valuable, allbeit FA Safety, and 2 of his replacements (also one for Crocker). _________________

You can do all that but not find anyone to replace Rey with at LB? _________________

I got Arthur Brown, who can play all 3. I wanted Khaseem Greene with the Cinci orginal 2nd, but he was taken before I could move up. There is still hope I trade up with all of my late rounders to net someone to take over SLB/MLB. At worst you are looking at a Brown-Rey-Vontaze starting core and get someone via FA or draft next year. _________________

Haha you did well and I can live with the LB core. Brown would greatly help us especially in coverage which is a huge weakness.
Why did you go with Floyd in the 2nd with all the DT talent we just drafted? _________________

I will not lie. Initially had a plan for positions to take, and targeted Jesse Williams, who would have played a similar role to Thompson/Still this year in reserve role, and would have taken Pat Sims' role...then Peko, I thought he was gone, and took the talent of Floyd, who I know, there was no one later in the draft I wanted at DT for the scheme/team [he can play LDE, UT, NT] which would spell the starters...turned out, Williams was still on the board and messed everything up. Still, Floyd is a player like I said, can play 3 of 4 DL spots, and would take over backup/starter snaps the following year. Rotate DTs, keep them fresh, increases DE production, frees up LBs, etc, all starts with the interior pass rush/lane stuffing. _________________
