Perhaps this didn't need it's own thread but I just wanted to comment on Alex Boone making it as a Pro Bowl alternate in his first year as a starter. How far he's come after coming on as undrafted rookie, working his way to the active roster, becoming a starter and essentially making the pro bowl. Great job by him and the niners brass for helping him develop. _________________

He turned his life around. He's not just a great player but he should be a role model. _________________

And on top of that he's a pro bowler at a new position. Did he ever play guard before this offseason? He should be high on the list for a nice extension. _________________

Pretty sure he's already locked up for a while. _________________ saintsfan on the sig

No one doubted his talent he was projected as a 1st rounder. It was his motives/actions that had teams question him. Thankfully the staff knew what they had in him. _________________

Baalke and Marathe worked their magic already... he was extended midway through last season. _________________

Best thing to ever happen to Boone was singletary getting in his face the moment he stepped foot on the niner campus. He scared him straight and made him respect his teammates and coaches and most importantly, respect himself. We all hated singletary as a coach but I've always believed that he had a big hand in the culture of this team. He made everyone tough and respectful. He turned Vernon's career around and helped Boone progress in his.
Singletary made this team tough and relentless, harbaugh made them smart and cerebral. It's paying dividends now. _________________
