For perspective, I watched the second Viking Superbowl on a 13" black and white TV.
Makes one appreciate big flat screen HDTVs today. |
When I first started watching The NFL, NO ONE I knew had a TV in his/her home. The Vikings wouldn't exist for 11 more years. Only one or two years before, The Canadian Football League had been called "The Canadian Rugby League". People would say I'm already too old to even be the head coach.
I don't believe that even The NFL Championship game was shown on TV in USA (I don't know, because I lived in Winnipeg, then). But they certainly didn't show it in Canada. And, I don't remember them showing any regular season games in Minneapolis, Milwaukee or Chicago, when visiting there. I saw a few Bear games when visiting relatives there. The packers were cellar dwellers in the early '50s. The Bears and Giants were the best then. _________________

We had some great players on defense back then. Millard was just mean. Browner doesn't get the recognition her deserves for being one of best safeties of that era.

That's one of the funniest things I've heard on this forum. |

I actually was never a huge fan of Browner. I think he was an above-average safety, but he wasn't "great." He certainly was a great tackler (I mean, he did do it with one arm after all most of the time), but in coverage, he was average at best. I think Harrison Smith, if he continues developing could be better than Browner ever was. _________________

I'm a solid decade older than the oldest Viking on the roster. |
