Is this smart to release him since he could resign with another playoff team... _________________

Well at least the giants are gone.
But if the pack grab him. They need a RB and it could help a lot.
But there staff seems too smart too touch him _________________ ***WE RUN THE WEST!***

Nvm. Are staff is made of jimmy neutron genius men.
That's why the suspension was 3 weeks. Didn't matter about the giants. Just needed to wait until that day _________________ ***WE RUN THE WEST!***

What if no one claims him and he becomes a free-agent? still stands? probably not. _________________

I doubt any team would want much of him, after the way he handled himself this year. He'll probably sign with the Giants again. _________________

they justt mentioned after the presser that Jacobs cannot be picked up and placed on a roster for the playoffs, this team isnt stupid, they wouldnt release him if he could sign.
this move is being made to make rooom for them to add a kicker. i am guessing based on harbaughs statements that they will sign a kicker and he and akers will compete in practice for the job. maybe even on a weekly basis.
if they had to worry about jacobs being a factor they would just make a p squad move to make room for the new kicker _________________ San Francisco 49ers 2013 Retirement Tour;

So much this - I heard (no proof, so a complete rumor) we were looking into Dave Raynor and Jeff Reed. Neil Rackers, I believe, is also still out there. _________________

I would prefer Ryan Longwell personally, living in South Dakota I've got to see alot of Longwell with both Greenbay and Minnesota and he has been pretty dang consistent. Doesn't really have a big leg, but very accurate. _________________ saintsfan on the sig

from what i hear from most people Longwell has trouble from distance,in terms of getting it there.
Dave Feldman(who is a blow hard) said today on CSN that Nedney has said he is available. IMO if he is able to still hit it he is the best option. _________________ San Francisco 49ers 2013 Retirement Tour;

Two years out of the game, though... _________________

I'd honestly rather just stick it out with Akers... I trust him enough inside 40. I just hope he trusts himself. I don't like him very much at this point but you couldn't pick a worse time to get a new kicker. _________________

I don't know... kickers usually have that "honeymoon" period, where they're perfect early on. It's like, they know they're auditioning for the job, so their concentration is top notch. At this point, Akers knows that even with good playoffs, we will be looking to replace him in the offseason, just based on the the terrible regular season he just had. I think he's done, mentally. _________________
