Norv was AWFUL the past 2 years. We had a poor OL, but he refused to ever adjust his scheme for his players (ie consistent 7 step drop backs with our horrendous OL, runs up the middle with Sproles on 4th and 1 vs. Baltimore, etc.) His playcalling was as bad as you could get it, and he refused to make any adjustments, never changed anything at halftime and never seemed like he went into a game with a half decent gameplan on offense.

I am seeing Norv in Eagles posters mock off seasons as the savior as a OC for some time now. And i dont see it or get it all. Rivers and him put together some solid seasons a couple years ago or so but Norv just acted like he can plug any one into his system with Rivers and no one would ever figure out there play calling/tendencies with game tape or anything. The ignorant 7 step drops and lack of adjustments and game managing/strategy are so obvious yet Norv just keeps getting labeled this offensive mastermind. We stereo type a lot in the NFL and even if we are seeing things one way, we will still lean more towards that team or player or coaches stereo type which can take a while to change or set straight.

This was long overdue. I pity anyone that actually hires Norv to run their offense. Like Reid, he has been figured out and refuses to evolve in response to it.

Fans can afford to be sarcastic about the O-line play, but an HC is supposed to make adjustments that HELP his team.

Norv's offense was always dependent of the "shot" play... and when you can't have 7 step drops to take that shot, Norv's play calling got exposed.

Norv's inability to make adjustments was what got him canned.

Rivers taking hits has been an issue since 2010, even when we still had McNeill and Dielman.

So it is not just a poor LT, but if fans want to believe that their QB's isn't going to take hits under Norv then go ahead.

Bolded: Which brings about arguably the worst weakness a coach can have, not knowing your own personnel. If Norv as the offensive mind can't recognize that he needs to adjust his playcalling to mask the weakness of his offensive line, he's just as big a failure as he would be if he couldn't call plays.

That's probably the 1st and 2nd biggest reason why Ken Whisenhunt was fired yesterday, a complete lack of awareness for his own personnel.

I feel like if you get Norv, you also could get Alex Smith though. That could be an attractive pairing for most teams.
