Dan Quinn is a much better fit for Pete's defense than Gus Bradley. Quinn coached a very aggressive defense at Florida and he is a D-Line guru (which is where Seattle has the most issues on D).
I love the hiring. _________________

It looks like we're safe in the FO. Gamble was a top candidate for the Jets and Jags but it appears he blew the interview.
As for coaches, i'm pretty sure Harbaugh and co will block any of our assistants leaving for a DC/OC job. If the Cardinals hire someone else besides Roman, we're safe for another year.
I would still look for another WR coach just because i'm wary of his ability to develop WR's (our most successful WR's are a top 10 pick exploding with Kaep and a veteran in Manningham). Other than that i'm good with our coaches and FO. |

So not only did the Cards not hire Greg Roman as HC but Horton is no longer their DC. WIN _________________ Welcome to the 9ers Q!

That's one of the most delayed double post ever. More than 15 hours in between... _________________

Rob Ryan interviewing for the Rams DC job. I think Rob is a pretty damn good coordinator. _________________ saintsfan on the sig

So our guys are safe in terms of head coaches...but i wonder if anyone will become an offensive or defensive coordinator for another team?
AFAIK the Eagles have a DC opening and are interested in Ed Donatell for their DC job (1 of many candidates i'm sure). Geep Chryst remains an OC candidate, but as far as i can tell only one team has an OC opening- the Cowboys. The Rams also need a DC but nothing has been reported with them.
I believe every other team in the NFL has filled out their OC and DC besides the Cowboys (OC), Eagles (DC), and Rams (DC). So if these 3 teams make coordinator hires we should be completely safe, unless someone wants to make a lateral move for some reason. |

My guess is they already have a defensive coordinator. If it's Donatell from 49ers, they couldn't make it official but could build a staff. |

As long as it isn't Tolmsula but I could see us losing him also by next year that man has what it takes to be a head coach and at the least a DC _________________

FOX Philadelphia's Howard Eskin reports 49ers DBs coach Ed Donatell is "likely" to be hired as Chip Kelly's defensive coordinator.
Eskin's report comes via "two NFL sources." CSN Philly reported Monday that Donatell had "surfaced" as a candidate. Donatell has seven years of experience as an NFL coordinator, but hasn't run a defense at the highest level since 2006. He served as the University of Washington's DC in 2008. Kelly is believed to be interested in installing a 3-4 defense, but Donatell is known for using a 4-3.

No, but they can express interest in it, I believe. Since coaches always have the opportunity to move up, I don't believe there's 'tampering,' unless they clearly brought the coach in for an interview while games were still being played. _________________

So the Saints and Eagles have to yet to name DC's...Rams too but they're a 4-3 team.
I've heard rumors the Eagles are looking at Ed Donatell and Ted Manchino (Ravens LB coach). No rumors for the Saints but fans in their forum like Jim Tomsula.
The 49ers can deny the Saints and Eagles if they come calling for our position guys, right? They did deny the Bucs permission to interview Donatell last year and with it being February, its really late in the process to find a new DL/Secondary coach as good as Tomsula or Donatell. |
