I don't envy the new GM's situation. Getting stuck with a HC you didn't hire, finding a new OC and DC, burdened with the Sanchez and Holmes guaranteed contracts, and Darrelle Revis' agent on line 1.

If Pettine is gone, Dennis Thurman will probably be promoted to DC. The defense will remain the same, its about building a competent offense.

Looks like Rex gets another year. He did lead that team to the AFC Championship 2 straight years.

Rex is a joke, his ego is bigger than his belly. I feel bad for the jets fans. Sanchez is not a NFL QB and Rex's ego won't allow him to admit it.

Rex lost weight. I'm pretty sure Rex admitted that when he benched Sanchez for McElroy.

Glad they kept Rex but I hope his loyalty to players cools down, he needs to win. Wish the best for the Jets, always been a supporter.

Woody Johnson can't be expected to do anything right. You had to clean house here. Mike Tannenbaum had to go for the destruction of the roster which he was responsible for. But quite simply it comes down to this - Rex Ryan is not someone who should be the face for an organization. He's a great coach, but he should be coordinator, there's no way around it.

When you have an owner who doesn't get it you will continue to have problems from the top to the bottom.

I feel bad for Jets fans.

Back to back AFC Championship Games, nice try wise guy.

How many other teams can claim that kind of success in the last 4 seasons, he made our defence elite. He just needs a good OC. Rex is a good coach, he'll win somewhere I just hope it's in NY.

But since then, the Jets have been a circus act at times.

I don't think anyone can say Rex Ryan isn't a good coach, most people can agree he's just not a great fit as a head coach, he just doesn't have the right mentality for the job. I think what you have to look for is a Tomlin, McCarthy or Mike Smith kind of personality who commands respect and can run a locker room.

I would have fired Rex. His act (we're winning the Superbowl!) has grown stale and the players seem to have taken on his egotistical attitude.

Also as stated, no GM is going to want to come into that situation so you're looking at either a washed up GM or an "up and comer" with no experience.

Just my opinion.
