*** Surprise Trade: Karlos Dansby to a team to be determined later for a 2013 mid to late round pick

MOCK DRAFT (**Remember, I'm not making guesses on who's coming out)

!. Ezekial Ansah - BYU - DE - I never liked the player comparisons but we are getting a chance to get our version of JPP here.

2. Alec Ogletree - Georgie - MLB - One of my goals doing this mock was to get everybody on the roster playing their natural position for optimum efficiency. I hope that's what I'm doing here, because Karlos Dansby is not a 4-3 MLB and doesn't make enough plays to justify having him there long term. He's been critical of Philbin at times earlier this season and may not be the best fit on this team moving forward.

2. Jordan Poyer - Oregan State - CB - Don't be surprised if he is named our best CB by the middle of camp next preseason. And that's not exactly a huge accomplishment.

3. Desmond Trufant - Washington - CB -In the efforts to push competition for the position. The lame players that we have are being lulled to sleep by the lack of talent amongst their peers.

3. Phillip Thomas - Fresno State - SS - We will be investigated for theft when this guy steps on the field.

4. Lane Johnson - Oklahoma - RT - Can do what we need to get done in our offense from his position. Ton of experience coming in.

5. Zaviar Gooden - Missouri - OLB - Investment pick ... Will eventually start. Will be a ST favorite that we will eventually want playing next to Ogletree

6. Ronnie Wingo - Arkansas - RB - A little thunder to our bush and miller lightning

7. Dan Buckner - Arizona - WR

7. Khalid Wooten - Nevada - CB

FREE AGENT SIGNINGS
(** Can't Guarantee I stayed within the budget here)

TE - Jared Cook - I think Has suffered due to Tennessee talent and QB issues.

RG- Ryan Lilja - This dude can move. Screen and roll out plays, here we come.

CB - Greg Toler - Opponent's 44.7% catch rate ranks 5th in NFL

LG - Andy Levitre - I'll admit here I'm going on the consensus opinion of others.

WR - Mike Wallace - It just makes sense. I know this offense doesn't need star WRs but it doesn't make a point to avoid them either. This dude is consistent in health and numbers, while being available in his prime. And before his detractors chime in, you don't put up those numbers every season simply running deep patterns.

I can get with this all day every day i love ogletree not sure if he last to the middle of round 2 but a big fan. I like dansby also but agree not sure he is sold on philpin. ziggy ansah is going to be versatile he can even line up and rush the passer on the inside and has speed off the edge. Lance Johnson is one of the most athletic tackles in college football and is moving up the boards i like him alot. The only thing i dont see is that Many free agent signings as philpin again recently said he doesnt believe in free agency but if they want to win they have to do something. jared cook has jermicheal finley skills and athletisism just needs to be turned lose

I dont do trades often but a somewhat off the wall trade for me is paul Soliai and a pick for wallace then resign starks and have starks and odrick play inside. Soliai gets them there young 34 tackle and a extra pick to get younger.

I would get on board with this off season. I do think defense is going to be in the draft and offense is going to be through FA

I could get on board with this....I have read where others think that Dansby may be traded off this year for some of the same reason you said and it does make sense.

Having 5 rookies be start could be an issue, but as long as they win their position and they improve each week and learn the schemes then I see nothing but positives.

I think the biggest help this off-season is going in knowing what the schemes will be, who the head coach is, and who the QB is. This wil allow the coaches to go into the GM's office and say...."Jeffy this is what we want, this is who we need, and this is who we can live with out....make it happen, buddy" unfortunately the coaches were for the most part stuck with the roster they had, now they can begin to mold it to their vision.

I still do not expect the Phins to be world beaters next year, but a few more wins, improvement in overall defense and offense, progress for the team overall is all we can ask for.

watched the Maaco Bowl, Trufant stood out for the Huskies, obviously not the highest standard of competition though. Guy on the other side flashed, Jamar Taylor CB for Boise (#5), always around the ball, very talented and competitive

I can get on board with taking a passrusher first but after that I would be shocked if they dont try to surrond Tannehill with Play makers. We just got a QB with potiential the worst thing we can do for his developement is leave him with limited weapons. Wallace alone IF were able to get him would become the focus of the offense much like B-Marshall was an we see how that worked out. All defensed did was roll coverage his way or double team him and Wallace is no wear close to Marshall's size. We need More than just Wallace. Am I the only one that is tired of having to work so hard to score points? At a minimum another WR with speed n a TE that can attack the middle of the field. Plus a guard wouldn't hurt either. I would bet my paycheck this will not be a Defense heavy draft. I anticipate there to be a passrusher at some point , I hope it first and a cpl DBs later on in the draft outside of that I expect all offense.

BR just mocked two of your 2nd rounders in the late first, so would be good value where you slotted them i guess

I really like this draft, especially considering the Free Agents you project us bringing in.

I would love to get rid of Dansby's salary hit.

I've been crying for us to bring in some CB talent early in the draft for the past couple of years, and it looks like this years CB crop is looking slim as far as 1st round talent......so grabbing more than one CB this draft for competition seems like a sound idea.

I do not believe you address the receiver position enough. Mike Wallace is my number one offseason target and I'd be so happy to see him in finstripes but its not enough. We need another proven guy or to draft one in the top two rounds.

This, I'm not interested enough to go MLB with our first 2nd round and DE with our first round, just doesn't interest me at all. I want Wallace too but we MUST help our DBs, they have sucked for far to long. I still want Davis, HUGE mistake to trade him considering they went from last to almost first in one year. Not worth the trade, should have gotten the colts first for him now.

Top proirty:

WR
CB
Saftey
DE

From least to greatest. I want us to trade one of our 2nd round picks for a player from another team, prefer DB.

Doc, this isn't quite the direction I would take things, but with that said, I like the job that you chose to do. I feel like you did a nice job with getting players that can turn over and start and most importantly like you said, you have players at optimal positions.

Here's the thing. And this goes out to everyone. If you want more WRs, you gotta tell me what you want to do with Bess and Hartline. Those guys are Welker and Decker just waiting to happen. When we start to provide Tannehill with time to make reads, it will happen. All we really need on offense is someone fast and athletic in the seam against linebackers and safeties and a deep threat to occupy the other safety. That sounds like Wallace and Cook to me.

As far as not being interested in a LB and DE. You got to see the whole picture. NFL football wasn't designed for any DB to cover a WR for more than 4.5 seconds. What you want to address this offseason is the opposing QBs time in the pocket. We need to get him making decisions in 4 seconds or less. DEs and LBs do that. The best way to cover a receiver is to make his QB sit indian style on the turf. Excuse me Native American style. That's just NFL science and culture. Far beyond my opinion.

I love the fact that you went DE in round 1 Doc, that's what I want for us as well.

I like Cook and Wallace too, and would be happy if we signed them. It frees up our picks and raises our cap with players we really need entering their prime. Everyone needs to remember that there is a salary floor beginning next season. I think it's 90% of the cap.

Wallace and Cook are just enough of what we need if we want to go one more WR then make it a 5th round type to develope him. Wallace and cook are both speed seem threat players and notches Hartline and Bess down the pecking order and all 4 guys would compliment each other
