Yes, this was what I thought live and why it was surprising that they ruled it as they did. It looked like he was trying to throw it to the RB and it seemingly should have been a fumble |

| The Colts secondary is just awful. I don't know why the Texans are trying to run at all. |

I don't think that was the tuck rule. I think they ruled that Luck was throwing the ball forward whereas the tuck rule would imply that he was in the process of tucking the ball.
Could be wrong, as the ref didn't really elaborate but that didn't look like a tuck rule scenario. |
You suppose to know your Patriots history better than that... as in the Raiders game the ref said "The QB's arm was going forward, by *rule* it is an incomplete pass" - Tuck Rule. |
I do know my Patriots history thank you.
| Quote: | | NFL Rule 3, Section 22, Article 2, Note 2. When [an offensive] player is holding the ball to pass it forward, any intentional forward movement of his arm starts a forward pass, even if the player loses possession of the ball as he is attempting to tuck it back toward his body. Also, if the player has tucked the ball into his body and then loses possession, it is a fumble |
The bolded part was the Tuck Ruling of the Patriots game. Brady was ruled to be bringing the ball back to his body.
Andrew Luck didn't appear to be tucking the ball back towards his body and it seems to me that the ref just ruled that it was the first part of the rule "any intentional forward movement of his arm starts a forward pass" without the "tucking" caveat. |
According to everyone on twitter, just everywhere, they saw it as the Colts been saved by the "Tuck Rule". The ref explanation to his ruling was exactly the same wording as the ref in the Raiders game.
I do not think it was really a tuck rule worthy call, but we caught a break. _________________

That's the same verbiage almost every ref uses when describing a fumble which is ruled a forward pass. It's not unique to the Tuck Rule.
If anyone on Twitter can explain to me how Andrew Luck was tucking the ball, I'd be glad to hear it. But it sure looked like a deliberate forward motion and not an attempt to bring the ball back to his body.
These things happen probably every week (fumbles ruled forward passes) in the NFL and almost none of them are "tuck rule" scenarios. People seemingly just like to use that term to explain any vaguely similar scenario - probably because they are unaware of how the rules actually work. |

Reggie Wayne would have been a really nice addition for the Pats. |

Pats offered more money than the Colts did. Ugh. _________________

You know he hasn't missed a game since his rookie season? With that kind of durability and with his playing style I could see him playing into his late 30s. _________________

Ask the thousands of them then, including bloggers, reports, insiders, News Networks etc...
Like i said, i didn't agree with the call been tuck rule, but i went with everyone else on twitter and even Tz who posted before me that the ref used the tuck rule to make his ruling on that play.
