If Shurmer is fired I think that would be a mistake. He has done well considering what he had to work with. Rookie qb, rb and a team in dissary entering the season he has stabilized that franchise in a short amount of time. _________________ A circle. The direction the Cowboys continue to travel. |

I've been pondering this recently and haven't seen it discussed on here (I may have missed it), but would you guys consider bringing in Sparano to be our OC?
I know he hasn't had a lot of success since leaving Dallas, but he also hasn't had the offensive talent we have. Also, Garret and Sparano have worked together successfully before (Led to a 13-3 record). _________________

Personally, I didn't like his offense in Miami, all the gimmics and Wild Cat crap, and his offense in NY has been just down right pittiful and very hard to swallow. There is no wonder as to why he is getting the axe. _________________

I completely agree. This is the first season in many, many years where the Browns were even competitive. Given how young and inexperienced the team is, that's a credit to Shurmer's coaching. He should have at least 2 more seasons before being evaluated due to the large number of rookies on offense. _________________

That was quick! |
The Eagles gave up on him the same way we gave up on Fat Wade. _________________

And why where they competitive? Thy did play hard for their coach or just good coaching. Is it because they drafted lineman early n often? ( I think they have drafted the same like us on the line, was discussed after the Clev game) . Give him at least 3 seasons ??? Do you feel that way about most head coaches? |

And why where they competitive? |
Because they have invested premium resources in key areas of the team. Notably, the offensive line. That's why Weeden and Richardson played reasonably well for rookies. Great offensive lines make every skill position player better, and Cleveland had three rookie starters on offense: QB, RB, and WR. Yet, they were able to score points and compete with the best of them.
| Quote: | | Thy did play hard for their coach or just good coaching. |
Both, actually. They clearly played hard, but there were some really solid situational play calls which can only have come from the staff. Just look at how well they played against us. They came in and punched us in the mouth and we squeaked out a win in OT.
| Quote: | | Is it because they drafted lineman early n often? ( I think they have drafted the same like us on the line, was discussed after the Clev game). |
They've invested premium resources in the lines, but mainly on the o-line. As I also pointed out, they also played a rookie at QB, RB, and WR and remained very competitive.
| Quote: | | Give him at least 3 seasons ??? Do you feel that way about most head coaches? |
I do. And seeing that Garrett has been here for 6 seasons, his three years are up. He was the defacto head coach before Wade was even hired, so, in my opinion, he's proven what he can and cannot do. And our record of "success" over these many years has proven that he can't do much. _________________
