GM: Marc Ross
HC: Rex Ryan
OC: Ken Whisenhut
DC: Dennis Thurman
ST: Whoever

Cap Carry Over

Total:$4M

Cuts

LB Bart Scott
LB Calvin Pace
OT Jason Smith
DT Sione Pouha
S Eric Smith
RB Joe McKnight

Total: $40M

Resigning

TE Dustin Keller – 1 year, $5.1M (Transition Tag)
S Laron Landry – 3 years, $19M
DT Mike DeVito – 2 years, $4.5M
WR Braylon Edwards – 1 year, $1.9M
K Nick Folk – 2 years, $1.4M
TE Jeff Cumberland – 1 year, $.6M
OT Austin Howard – 1 year, $1M
CB Darrin Walls – 1 year, $.5M

Total: $18.5M

Trades

QB Tim Tebow to the Jacksonville Jaguars for their 6th Round Pick in 2013

The Jets carry no dead money from this deal and the Jaguars pay the full $1.5M owed to the player.

QB Mark Sanchez and their 2013 5th Round Pick to the Seattle Seahawks for QB Matt Flynn.

The Seahawks agree to pay $3M of the $8.25M owed to Mark Sanchez in 2013. This results in a $14M cap hit in 2013 for the Jets, but the player is completely off the books in 2014.

Total: (Est. $15M)

Restructures

OT D’Brickashaw Ferguson
WR Santonio Holmes

Total: $10M

Total Cap Room: Est. $16.5M

Free Agency

LB Shaun Phillips – 3 years, $14M

OT Gosder Cherilus – 2 years, $4.5M

There are some good RT prospects in this year’s free agency with the contracts of Andre Smith (Cin), Will Beatty (NYG) and Gosder Cherilus (DET) all up. Andre Smith is clearly the headline name of the bunch, but with Cincinnati’s surplus of space, I don’t see him leaving. Will Beatty, who was ranked 4th in pass protection this year for NFC OTs, will probably also be back with the Giants. That leaves Cherilus with the best, and a high chance of leaving Detroit. The Jets sign him and slide him to RT, kicking Austin Howard inside to RG.

RB Fred Jackson – 1 year, $3M

I know Jackson isn’t officially a free agent, but after coming off two major surgeries and with the emergence of CJ Spiller, I’m not too sure that he’ll be back with the Bills. I’ve always been a huge fan of Jackson. While he is coming off back-to-back season ending injuries, he does not have much tread on his tires. Adding firepower to our offense is imperative, and if Jackson can revert back to his healthy form, we could have a steal on our hands in 2013.

RB Kevin Smith – 1, $.75M

Smith also has an injury history but he was fine this year. Smith would be insurance in case Jackson goes down. Keep in mind we still have Powell who will be ahead of Smith on the depth chart.[i]

: $12.75M

Round 2: QB Tyler Bray; Tennesee
Round 2: WR Cordarrelle Patterson; Tennesee
Round 2: TE Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame
Round 4: LB Tank Carradine; Florida State
Round 6: DE Dan Giordano; Cincinnati
Round 6: LB Bruce Taylor, Virginia
Round 7: FB Zach Line, SMU

NYG was so close.

I like the trade with Cincy, but I don't think we'll need to give up a third. I like Warmack, but I am not a fan of Bray. I love the rest of the draft, although I'm not sure if Carradine will make it to the 4th.

If Tank can't really work out then I don't know if he'll go high based on a few games.

Carroll won't want Sanchez in Seattle. Besides Flynn hasn't actually ever shown anything worthwhile.

Wait what was the trade with Cincy? We acquire two seconds? What happened to our original 2nd?

No way Chance Warmack makes it to the end of the 1st and no way Coradelle makes it to the end of the 2nd.

He just told me he forgot it and the pick is Tyler Eifert.

Eh. I would rather take a pass rusher there. Maybe Chase Thomas?

Cordarelle is top 10 in the 2nd. DeCastro went pick 24 last year.

Sorry, that was before I saw the extra second rounder. I thought coradelle was going at the bengals pick in the second. Also, Chance is the most sought out guard prospect in the past 20 years. He won't drop that far man.

Warmack will make it at the end of the 1st ground. No matter how good an OG is he will never be picked higher than 15th. I really don't want a OG we need a playmaker.

I like it. Sensible spending and drafting. Only thing that I don't think is realistic in the Sanchez trade. But nice overall.

Every year there's the 'best OG prospect in the past 20 years', they never go that high. Iupati, DeCastro, even back to Ben Grubbs and many others. Guards don't go that high unless they can play OT (Branden Albert)

This is not bad at all - it's hard to say what's realistic or not in getting rid of Sanchez but I think this comes close.

Is Chance Warmack strictly a guard prospect? Excuse my continued draft ignorance... it would just seem high to take a pure guard at that point.

He is strictly a guard. There are two first round guard prospects in this draft in him and Jonathan Cooper of North Carolina. I wouldn't take Warmack at 9, like some mocks in the Mock Draft forum have us doing, but I would consider them if we traded back into the 20s.
