He's not. I doubt he is gone at all. People think we will cut him because he and Jones got in an argument. |
It's not just that. Issues with health, a decline in performance, a lack of leadership are all reasons I've been hearing that could lead to his release. |
I don't buy it - the one million we save has to go to replacing him and that - at best - will cost 640k. Are we really saying that Rat isn't worth 360k? |
If the coaching staff believe the other negatives outweigh the low cost against the cap to keep him here, yes I believe so.
Garrett is trying to build a culture here of players who want to win at all cost, and if injured are there to help support and motivate the team. You saw Sean Lee at every game he was able to be at, Josh Brent was even motivating guys on the sidelines when he was at the game against Pittsburgh (?). Ratliff was hardly ever around the team when injured, it had Nick Eatman wondering if he (Ratliff) hadn't been suspended.
I think if the baggage Ratliff is carrying is going to be a detriment to the team, he should be cut even if it creates an ever bigger hole on the depth chart. _________________

I really want to keep Rat, we save basically nothing by cutting him and has been a team player, him yelling at Jerry jones doesn't make me want to cut him, I might do the same thing after having to deal with him for years he needs to get his nose out of the football operations and stay out. If he had yelled at the coaching staff that would be much different and he'd be gone _________________

That's the thing, according to what I've heard, he hasn't been this year.
When injured, Ratliff was hardly around the team at all while guys like Lee and others were at every game they were allowed to be at, lending support and helping to coach the players up...even Josh Brent aided in that area.
If Ratliff is starting to become a distraction and no longer fits the 'RKG' mold, he'll be gone. _________________
