The Steelers suffered so many injuries this year but Adams loss may have gone unnoticed around the league but Steeler fans realize how big it negatively affected the running game. He needs work in pass protection and hopefully the new OL coach can guide him the way Lake has elevated the secondary. The new OL coach will have some young talent to work with and he will be an important offseason hire. _________________

yup
130ish YPG while he's in, 60ish when he's out
Colon was irrelevant. He had a few decent games, not coinicdentally when Adams was at RT and Colon didn't have to actually root someone out of the hole when he pulled (which he almost never succeeded at doing) |

Agreed.
Colon had his moments. More often than not he was mediocre in every phase of the game.
Colon has been CALLED for tons of holds, and gotten away with probably twice as many as he has gotten called for.
The dude is a fat, walking penalty waiting to happen, and his play isnt nearly good enough to overlook that. _________________

The penalties + injuries make him nowhere near worth keeping around. That's even if he was a GOOD lineman, which he is not. |

mosteeler -Adams was the best run blocker, or the only good run blocker. The OL was much improved with him in there. (please) Stop listening to colonsworth or phil sims. Glad the season is over, no searching for the mute button for colonsworth or sims. The commentators of today are terrible for the most part. goodell must pick the cast as well |

he led the NFL in holding penalties, despite missing, what, 3 games? 4 games?
he had another that was declined, and another that was offsetting.
he had more holding penalties than the rest of the Steelers' OL combined.
here:
Ramon Foster - 4 penalties, 2 holding
Max Starks - 3 penalties, 1 illegal use of hands
Marcus Gilbert - 2 penalties, 1 holding
Kelvin Beachum - 2 penalties, 1 holding
Mike Adams - 2 penalties, 1 holding
Doug Legursky - 2 penalties, 2 holding
Maurkice Pouncey - 2 penalties, 0 holding
totals for entire offensive line: 68.5 games, 17 penalties, 8 holding. An average of 1 penalty every 4 player-games, 1 holding call every 8.5 player-games
Willie Colon himself - 11.5 games, 12 penalties, 8 holding. An average of 1 penalty every game, and 2 holding penalties every 3 games
by point of comparison, D'Anthony Batiste, Arizona's LT who gave up 11 sacks this season, caused 63 yards lost on his sacks. Colon's penalties were over 80 yards, and again, that's discounting another 20 yards in penalties that were either declined or offsetting.
So essentially, Colon's penalties were worth one full lost football field. |
