Well, six Ravens were named to the Pro Bowl. I'll just do a quick analysis:
Ray Rice - No-brainer, really.
Vonta Leach - Glad he was picked. Some could argue that Marcel Reece deserved it, but Vonta was the right selection IMO.
Jacoby Jones - No-brainer for special teams.
Marshal Yanda - Another good selection.
Haloti Ngata - Eh... While Ngata was his usual self at the beginning of the year, his overall play has dipped (aside from this past week, of course). I'll give him a pass since he has been injury-plagued once again, but I think Wilkerson was more deserving.
Ed Reed - So many more deserving guys here. Weddle, Jones, Clark, Byrd, etc.
Overall, glad we sent as many as we did. Would've liked to have seen Pollard make it, but oh well. _________________

Pollard is a 1st alternate, I believe. _________________ "The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.” |

I don't think Ed deserved it, but everyone else that got selected did. Ngata to a lesser extent _________________

He's been solid in coverage, but the man can't tackle at all anymore. _________________

Forget the 4 interceptions, we have allowed only 14 passing TDs this year. That's only 1 more than the league leader, and just as many as the vaunted Seahawks secondary. This is with our defense being incredibly banged up in the secondary, among other places. Over a two year span, no one comes close to how few passing TD's we allowed.
Unless you want to attribute all that to Cary Williams', or Bernard Pollard's coverage skills, then give Ed Reed his due credit. Ed Reed is the back end of our defense and his job is taking away the big plays in the passing game, and despite taking some risks trying too hard to make a play, he does that extremely well. I could care less how awful he looks tackling and even less how he looks in run support, when he does that so well. |

But TDs aren't everything. That's not to say I disagree about Ed's level this year, but you must also check the yards given through the air and YAC if you want to judge a secondary. |

True, but I focused on TDs since those somewhat correlate with the number of times the back-end (Reed) of our defense has failed. Just watching the number of times we get burned for those back-breaking big plays in the passing games vs what I see in other games across the nfl, it's clear that we still have something on defense, despite the loss of our top cover corners and linebackers and a pass rush that has been anemic at times.
I'm certainly not comparing our secondary as a whole to the top secondaries in the league, this year. Especially not with Webb out. |

There is also the trap of making the connection of "not as good as he once was " = "sucks" _________________
