Isn't Goodell the one who comes up with the rules for the game?
Why does he...
-Make 3-4 LBs play in a 4-3 defense at LB.
-Make blitzes illegal
Then expect those same players to play at a Pro Bowl level, or he'll cancel the game?! Is he serious?!
That is the biggest gripe I have with the Pro Bowl. It is idiotic to put Ware and Matthews, among others, in the LB category, and then tell them they can't rush the quarterback. That is what they get paid to do, not to drop back in coverage.
Change the rules of the game or change the positional voting, and the game will be more competitive. _________________

For Felton, we've come a long way from this summer: http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=492608
For all the talk of last offseason's free agency, no one brings up the signing of Jerome Felton. That addition was as big as any this year. _________________

Why do people always put odd stuff like this on Goodell, never quite figured that out. All these rules were in place prior to him becoming commish and if the rules were different, such if LB's could blitz, your starting QB's for the pro bowl would be Christian Ponder and Blaine Gabbert cause no one else would want to do it. The whole game is a joke, and if people want to put anything on Goodell, put it on him for getting it right when he said the game should be cancelled permanently. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

Not putting it all on Goodell, but as commissioner he is the guy who has the power to change the rules. _________________

There are a few rookies I'm surprised didn't get in. Granted I haven't seen the alternate lists, but How Matt Kalil, Harrison Smith, Janoris Jenkins, Casey Hayward, and Bobby Wagner got left off is a joke. _________________

He doesn't everything thing like that he can suggest to various committees but he doesn't have the power to himself change rules. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

Eight teams had no Pro Bowl players: Carolina, Philadelphia and St. Louis in the NFC, Tennessee, Buffalo, Jacksonville, San Diego and Oakland in the AFC.

a question for you smart guys -
if fan voting only accounts for 1/3 of the decision to send a player to the Pro Bowl, then why don't the other 2/3'ers override the bad decisions, like Saturday? _________________

Because another 1/3 of the vote goes to the players and lots of times their votes are about as intelligent as the fans, considering they don't exactly have the time to follow other players either. Their vote goes on name recognition as well. _________________

Just skill games? No.
But they should add some, much like how MLB has the Home Run Derby and NBA has the Slam Dunk Contest. _________________

create something like a decathalon event that all guys could participate in and that would highlight both strength (for linemen) and agility and accuracy.
find the NFL's top overall athletes that way.
oh, and include a basic spelling and logic test too, maybe memory. they did go to college, after all. if they came out stupid, then that gets shown too. _________________

Right now three NFC North teams are in the running for the playoffs. |
