Been awhile since I posted last but I was looking at the current draft order, team needs, and potential sliders/risers according to those needs. I have read a thousand mock off-seasons to date and this one may be too far out-of-the-box thinking for some. First, let me project the top 10 selections which provides the basis for my idea.
1. KC - G. Smith, QB, no explanation required for their #1 need
2. Jack - B. Woerner, DE, a lot of comparisons to JJ Watt
3. Oak - Manti Teo, So many needs but look for a defensive identity first
4. Phil - L. Joekel, LT, doesn't matter who plays QB if ends he up on the ground
5. Det - T. Lewan, LT, same as Philly, Backus is at the end
6. Buff - Matt Barkley, Fitz ain't getting it done despite his salary
7. Clev - D. Moore, DE, need an edge rusher desparately
8. Ariz - T. Wilson or M. Glennon, QB, any QB
9. Tenn - **Trade Alert** Rams trade #15 and 2nd round pick**
Rams select Star Lotulelei, DT
24. Rams (from Wash) **Trade Alert** Rams trade #24 and their 3rd pick to Cinncy for picks #37 & 52 in the 2nd round
37. Rams, DJ Fluker, RT, once and for all we lock this position up
52. Rams - Zach Ertz, TE, in a couple years they will refer to Gronkowski as a poor man's Ertz
4. T. Frederick, G/C, Wisconsin, Badgers just keep churning out lineman
4. (From Cinncy) L. McFadden, CB, replaces Fletcher, provides depth
5. M. Stafford, SS, hard hitting, in the box safety, needs help playing the ball
6. S. Long, G, camp competition at RG
7. OLB, ???
First the departures which rationalizes the signings:
SJ, DA, B. Richardson, C. Dahl, Fletcher
Resignings:
W. Hayes (3 yrs, $12M)
B. Gibson (2 yrs, $5M)
W. Hunter (2 yrs, $4M)
F/A signings. We could have resigned SJ and DA for about the same price we can sign Greg Jennings (5 yrs, $35M) and Legarette Blount (3 yrs, $9M). I chose the latter due to DA's injury history and SJ's age.
L. Landry, FS (5 yrs $25M) a bit cheaper than Gholston and we can finally say goodbye to the worst safety in the NFL.
With Jennings on the outside, we move Givens to the slot who should find a lot more room to operate with Ertz drawing coverages. I love the way Brockers has come on as of late (all while still dealing with the ankle) and he would be absolutely beastly next year with Lotulelei next to him. We would have the makings of an ALL-PRO defensive line accross the board. THIS would be the Rams new identity! No longer the Greatest Show On Turf, we are now known as the Fearsome Foursome, hey, it has a nice ring to it!
Have a great day Ram brothers and let me know what you think. |

Im not sure I like drafting Star Lotulelei with our first pick of the draft, we drafted Brockers last year and Langford is playing well for us... I feel that we have much more important needs like safety, wide receiver, and offensive line for our first round picks _________________

| This draft is different and interesting. Star is great but I don't know if I like him more than Richardson. Either player would be great next to Brockers though. |

Giving Jennings a 5 year deal isn't high on my list. Also hate the LaRon Landry contract.
The draft looks ok. _________________

| Drafting Star would be great, but I doubt we would trade up to get him. This is a pretty deep DT class. If we need one, we could get Hankins/Richardson later. |
