so yeah, your first rounders. Loved Hightower, was iffy on Jones.
Seemed like Jones got off to a fast start and slowed down (injury) and it also seems like Hightower is starting to get a bit more playing time and showing some production.
Thoughts on these 2 young beasts? _________________

Jones made the two most important plays in the win against Jacksonville.
Hightower has been up and down [mostly up]. Very good against the run and blitzing. Iffy in coverage. _________________

| Hightower has been really good over the last few weeks and seems to be figuring things out after a bit of a rocky start. |

this team needs another guy on this line for Jones to be more productive. However he does get held A LOT. I still remember Michael Oher holding him like every play against the Ravens. _________________ Free Max B RIP Stack Bundles

Jones was clearly the DROY for the first half of the year. He was hurt and is still recovering from that injury.
Hightower has been solid. |

Pretty much. A penetrating DT next to Wilfork would do absolute wonders for us. If we don't pick one up in free agency or the draft, I'd like to at least see Myron Pryor stay healthy and get a good shot at starting there. |

I'd like to win the lottery tomorrow, and I think that might be more likely than Pryor staying healthy.
Love the guy's upside but at this point anything he contributes is a bonus.
A penetrating 3-technique would do wonders for Jones and the defense in general. It should be, IMO, their #1 priority for the offseason |

Any reason to think he won't be franchised? |

Under Jerry Angelo, they sure were.
Phil Emery doesn't seem quite as dumb |

Unfortunately, he still has Angelo's mistakes to deal with. The Bears have a fair amount of money already on the books, and a ton of guys coming due in the next two years. If they pay Melton now, that means some big names are going to walk or be cut. |

There is literally zero chance Melton isn't in Chicago next year. Zero.
As for our money situation, I don't think Melton will see the franchise. I think he'll sign a backloaded deal, when most of his money will hit the books when the contracts of Tillman, Peppers and company are expiring.
Hester and Kellen Davis will likely be cut, saving us $6M, and we'll probably let a couple guys walk.
Also, we're coming for Vollmer. |
