Glad we got the win against a team starting their third string quarterback. Nice little apology by Rex to Norv. This is embarrassing.

This is a new one......

SI's Peter King reported on Football Night in America Sunday that NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci is interested in the Chargers' coaching job.
Mariucci has been out of coaching since the Lions fired him in 2005, spending the meantime working for NFL Network. Along the way, he's been linked to several coaching jobs, mostly due to his interest in teams as opposed to those teams' interest in him. The Chargers are expected to clean house this offseason, firing both GM A.J. Smith and head coach Norv Turner.

I like Mariucci. It'd be a shame if I didn't get to see him on TV anymore.

Even if meant you got to see him on the sidelines every week?

He definitely fits the big name with HC experience. He runs a WCO, which a lot of people expect the next guy to do. Unless the family shocks the world, which is doubtful, this is a really strong rumor.

He hasn't coached in 7 years. That's a really long time. I'm very conflicted because Mooch seems like a guy that could really help us but that 7 years since he's coached makes me a little gun shy. Still I'd probably be on board with it based on how likable he is.

Is 7yrs off better than just fired? It'd be interesting to see records from coaches that have been off for a while compared to those that got fired from their last job.

All great points. I may just be gun shy after Cottrell.

Believe me when I say I want to be wrong about this team but I just don't see a 1 year turnaround no matter who we bring in. We have gaping holes on this team that just make it too hard to win games.

Mooch very well might be my #2 or #3 pick for Head Coach though worries and all.

Mooch has class.

Just noticed Reyes had 3.5 sacks vs the Jets... DAMN! Dude is really coming along as the season progresses. Gotta think this young defense has to be attractive to potential coaches.

I don't buy this, the team is likely to win 7 games this year and we really should have won the NO, DEN, Cleveland, and Balt game. That would have given us 11 wins.

The team isn't that far off.

We didn't win those games. Our secondary potentially needs to replace three starters and the entire offensive line needs new starters for 2013. When the only starter under contract and likely to return is Clary you really need to take off the powder blue glasses and look at it objectively.

Lines take time to gel & I am not willing to get my hopes up just yet that we can replace 10 starters in one off season. Keep in mind that we weren't even good this season and you can begin to understand why I am so worried. This will be a new team next year. A young team. Rivers will have his work cut out for him next year molding the new guys.

Hardwick is under contract..... and Vasquez doesn't need to be replaced.

Vasquez is a FA and Hardwick will retire.

I can't see a situation where any new GM/HC would be willing to keep Clary around at $4mil next year.

I really think Hardwick will retire. He was on the fence before the season, and my guess is that this year beat any life left in his career.

That would leave Gaither, Harris, Molk, Troutman, Haslam, and Schilling as the OL with a contract for next year. So, without any changes the OL would look like

Gaither-Schilling-Molk-Troutman-Haslam

Sadly, I think that would wind up being an improvement

After watching this past game, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Rex Ryan is the Head Coach of the Chargers next year.
