My buddy were talking a little yesterday and a short conversation turned into a longer one, with the main point covering 1 topic: The Quarterback position. According to my buddy, Mike Bidwill still has not decided on what changes (If any) will be made to the front office or the coaching staff but he has instructed Steve Keim (Which my buddy agreed seems to suggest that Keim will be a major part of this team in 2013) to quote "exhaust all resources" in the scouting of 2013 draft eligible players. According to my buddy, Keim has since re-routed damn near every single scout in our department outside of their normal scouting regions (Which is actually pretty expensive to do, from what I'm told) to regions featuring bowl games with highly touted QBs. My buddy's overall take: "Mike wants a franchise quarterback and he'll do anything to get one. I'm talking 'trade every pick we have'. He's fed up. Steve got the marching orders, we're going full court press to find a quarterback we like." _________________

Wow! I am happy to see that Mike is willing to do whatever it takes to turn the franchise around and into a perennial contender. However, I just think this is one of the worst possible year's to try to find that future franchise QB, so I can't say I agree with this strategy at this time. IMHO, what this draft can provide is some terrific pieces to put around that future QB, especially on the OL, so that's where I would put the bulk of my focus/energy/resources. _________________

So this means we could draft a franchise QB even if the HC isn't 100% on board? Makes me think we'll have a new coach or Whiz will lose some control... Sounds like Rod is out as well. _________________

1. Probably, though who out there wouldn't be on board with a rookie QB? It's either that, Lindley or Skelton. Maybe Kolb. It shouldn't be a tough sell.
2. Just for reference, this doesn't say anything about a coach, Whiz or someone new, not having a significant amount of say in who that new QB is. _________________

| It sounds as though Mike has put a lot of faith in Keim which might be a hint that he is the next GM. |

I don't mind the intent, but there is likely not a worse year to go after a Quarterback in the draft.
Now if we are looking at trading picks for an established vet (Rivers) then I am more on board.
If we draft a QB I have a feeling we could stay put and get my #1 QB (Tyler Wilson) in the first round. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I also expect to see a LOT of play at the Senior Bowl from ALL of our scouts/GM/Coaching staff. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Scrub Manuel off that list.
Back foot thrower, ignore the size and athleticism for a minute, too many bad decisions, focuses on #1 target, all the bad traits.
I like Wilson the more i watch him, I would also take Tyler Bray in the 2nd or 3rd, remember Ryan Mallet was a head case and he has gone ok spelling a certain mr Brady in NE. |

So Champ I take it he said we won't pick up Kolb's option in March? _________________

What about Kolb?
I assume Lindley is here in 2013 and so is Skelton, as they are cheap backups.
Does Kolb get a third year at a reduced rate? |

He didn't but I think it's a fair assumption that won't happen. _________________
