The only big free agency signing I could see, would be kenny philips as a safety. We could trade Harper for a mid round pick and Philips would be perfect for Spags system! |
Well, the FS spot should read "anyone but Jenkins"!
Harper isn't worth trading, he is a good enough starting SS and has been no worse than any of our other DBs in coverage this year |
Raves put it nicely in a different thread when he said Harper is a great red zone SS. Between the 20's he's a liability... period...point blank. I could definately see Harper parting ways and Kenny Phillips get signed. I'd start grooming Corey White for FS too. Although Spags may like him better at corner. |
And as I've said before, I don't think Jenkins is a centerfield ballhawking FS, I've said that before, but more of a jack of all trades FS. He can do a little of everything, including centerfield from time to time if all our DBs are burnt like toast, but he doesn't excel at anything. He can man up a WR/TE, blitz, play zone, come up in run support, etc, kind of like a SS, you pair him up with a safety like Kenny Phillips it gives you the ability to use so many different coverage packages as they can swap roles and make coverage that much tougher to read. Then you add in that we have Quddus as the back-up, run a 3 safety set with Jenkins as more of a nickel back and Quddus and Phillips at safety for the 2 WR/2 TE/RB or 2 WR/TE/2 RB/FB looks. _________________

The Saints prize 2013 free agent from Baltimore becomes a dependable starter for the black and gold and allows Jabari Greer to play in the slot giving the Saints great depth at the position.

It's to bad he won't accept "dependable starter" money, otherwise he would have already resigned with us in Baltimore. So prepare to overspend if you really want him. |
