We get a veteran receiver who's a playmaker, something we've all been craving for, and we get the 3rd overall pick in the draft which we would probably have a lot of options with as far as trading down goes.
I mean it would probably take 16 and 22 just to trade up to 3rd overall, AND we get a low-end #1 wideout and an additional 4th round pick? |
why would we bolster a team that's in our confrence when we can stay put and draft what we need?
by the looks of it, we get Warmack at 16 and either Allen, Hunter, or Williams at 22 or we can trade out #22 for a later first and maybe a 3rd |
Because we're bolstering ourselves more.
Jarvis Jones/Star Lotulelei/Damontre Moore/Luke Joeckel + Jeremy Maclin + a 4th seems like a very good use of our 2 1sts. _________________

It's a good starting point, move that fourth up to a third, and I'd take that deal. Remember guys, the value at the top of the draft has skyrocketed since the rookie wage scale.
We could very well move down, pick up an extra second (maybe a fourth as well) and still have a top 10 pick. |
It would make more sense if it was ONE of our firsts.. not both |
So you expect for a team to trade down from the third overall pick to a mid first round pick for nothing and throw in Jeremy Maclin and a fourth round pick? What??? I feel like you're missing something here. _________________

Yes please! Get a sure fire player at 3 and jmac, I'd love it. Or just move back and pick up another 2nd so we'd have jmac, a 1st and 2 seconds. _________________

Lord yes, where do I sign? This is a solid deal if you ask me. Only trepidation I'd feel would be in Maclins' health. And remember, they have the 3rd pick, so the 4th rounder is just like a late 3rd. I'd be very pleased with this trade. _________________

Mostly because i dont feel that Star/Joeckel/Jones etc. + Maclin is better than 2 mid first prospects.
If there was a player or two that was Elite to grab in the top 4 then i would be more inclined, but IMO there isnt.
I think Barkley, Warmack and Allen are the closest thing to Elite in this class IMO and any of them can be had in the mid to late of the round which happens be where our picks stand (not that we are after a qb). And i understand everyone will probably think im insane for making the statement i just made which is fine, but its what i firmly believe.
So back to the original topic at hand... That is why i would not accept this deal if I were in charge. Honestly the best thing about the deal is picking up a 4th where there will be a chance to snag some decent talent. _________________

I still dont even think Jones or Joeckel are even that good, in terms of top 5 pick quality. But I suppose its all relative. _________________

Yes! I would take that trade and not think twice about it.
If we could sign Bowe in the off-season as well, think about how stacked our offense would look after that deal.
Bowe
Maclin
Amendola/Givens
Quick
Gibson
Kendricks
Along with the third pick which could be Joeckel/Lewan/Moore/Jones. We could improve immensely in just one off-season. _________________

JARVIS Jones? My only question with Jones is his spinal stenosis. Dude is a beastly player. 4-3 OLB athleticism with great pass rush skills...has experience in coverage. On top of that, he doesn't have the issue you see with most supremely talented players...which is motor. Guy has a great motor and constantly is running down plays from behind or from the other side of the field.
If there were no injury red flags with him, he'd easily be the best prospect in this draft. On the field, guy has Von Miller type ability. I mean he has 147 tackles, 42 TFLs, 26 sacks and 9 FFs over the last 2 years in the SEC and this isn't a guy who stats lie on...he is every bit as good on the field as the stats say. _________________

Obviously, I'm not speaking for the rest of them but yes, I would take that trade.
It's a very fair deal. We get a good #2 WR, a 4th and the #3 pick in the draft for our 2 1sts. In this deal, we don't lose any picks(swapping 2 picks for 2 picks) and we managed to pick up a proven contributor at WR.
It's more than worth it to me. |

What about Lotulelei and Werner, not that they would necessarily be on our radar, but they are the upper end talent in this draft. I honestly have no idea who we would take if we were picking #3, but there is some talented guys. It also would open up the possibility that a QB starved team could make us a trade down offer and allow us to stack some more chips. All in all, I'd be good with this trade. _________________

No i would not take this trade and here's the reason why. I do not think there is a prospect in the top 5 that would warrant that trade. If we end up drafting another bust then we are stuck. However with our two first round picks we get to two valuable starters, and even if one busts we still have the other.
It has nothing to do with maclin the guy's talent is undeniable, but i rather this team build from the ground up with its own draft picks. How often do teams get to capitalize on having TWO first round draft picks. _________________ Rams Rams Rams
