It's not how things usually work. It's certainly not very Mike mcCarthy.

As far as I'm concerned, this is just one guy (McGinn) with an agenda.

I could see this being true, but it certainly didn't come from anyone high up in the organization.

So until we have someone to take his place this offseason - either a FA or a draft pick - Finley isn't going anywhere.

Quarless could be that guy.

The draft is also after that huge bonus is due. They could easily let him go before hand, planning on one of Quarless/Rookie to be determined later taking that spot.

I'm betting that this is part speculation on McGinn's part, but someone probably did say something along the lines of "It's hard to say he's living up to that contract" and/or "8 mil for next year is hard to swallow". Both are obvious comments and the disparity between Finley's contract and ego vs his performance on the field is plain as day.

This is bogus. Even if the Packersvwere going to do this they wouldn't leak it about a guy who has confidence issues right before the playoffs.

Again, bogus.

As much as I hate to say it, he isn't utilized correctly in this system. You can't ask him to block other than a chip every now and then.

He'll flourish in another city, which it seems to me that New Orleans would be a nice fit for Finley if he shuts up, but he'll never be content with success because his false sense of "swag" will never let it happen.

Such a waste of talent.

Being a sports writer must get pretty dull.

I'm not so sure why people think Finley is that bad of a blocker, or doesn't try. I've seen him lay out defensive ends when he is supposed to chip them. The problem is that now every single action of his must be fit to the prevailing narrative.

Yeah. I'm really skeptical about this. I don't know why this is coming out, or if McGinn is just making stuff up. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow the Packers/TT "vehemently deny" that this was the case, because right now, it seems like Finley has begun to turn the corner. He's giving more effort in the run game, and he's making the most of his chances in the receiving game. Of course this wasn't the case earlier in the year, but now he's been playing like he cares about his job. And like everyone else said, no one else has been able to step up to be the starting TE over him. Just terrible timing with this if this indeed came from a credible Packers source.

IMO we need to cut Finley and aggressively go after a TE in the draft. I'm talkin 2nd round.

It will be intesting to see how the opinions change here in the next few weeks. The boy has looked damn good these past few weeks. I didn't watch him all that often as a blocker but the few times I saw he showed some nice effort. We didn't see his dumb celebration but once today, I believe. Maybe it's a sign of things to come.
