Box Score Scouting?
I did not like the look at the sack numbers but every time you turn on an LSU game you see Mingo in the backfield consistently. |
i was saying that months ago, but everyone insisted i was wrong. If you watch him he's very disruptive. Don't look at just stats, look at tape. |
Bolded: I'll gladly look over the tape with ya. Would be my pleasure to put on the Texas A&M game with ya to see where all this disruption is supposedly at. _________________

I was probably part of the party doing it. Was probably boxscore scouting. Get a more accurate view of prospects as the season flows on, to a point where I can see 5-7 games of a guy. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Watching LSU vs TA&M tape on Mingo.. it looks like his assignment was contain most of the time and he has a really quick spin move.
How his moves translate to the NFL when he looks a bit undersized remains to be seen but Khodder pegged it to me.. he's a quick Irvin type with Von Miller-ish moves, but weight he looks between Irvin and Miller.
I think if he gets some weight on him and can keep progressing, he'll be a fine OLB. |

| Now that Lewan is going back to school, I want the best available lineman at #7 that wouldnt be a reach based on talent. That means if Joeckel doesnt fall to us (he proably wont) then Warmack is next in line. Warmack would either play LG next year and move Colledge to RG or vice versa |

I would depend on whom else is there. If we ended up with Mingo in the first round this April I would not mind it. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

And against Alabama which brings me to the point DJ touched on a few posts back, he makes no contribution to the run game. If he's playing good tackles and getting no pressure, he's got no other way to make a positive impact on the field.
I've seen half his games the last 2 years which is probably more than most of the people on this site as a whole. Mingo's not a worthy player at 7. Mauybe Horton could work with him and turn him into something but that's a maybe. And we don't know how Horton will even be here. _________________

Another note and it shows up on tape an awful lot is that a number of Mingo's pressures are on plays where he should have clear sacks and came in too reckless, causing him to take a bad angle or just miss the tackle/sack altogether. He does this a LOT. _________________

Mingo over commits alot, over runs plays
He has too much speed and seems to keen to make the big play.
Werner lets the play come to him
Difference between top 5 and top 20.
Mingo i would take if we dropped back 5 spots, in a heart beat.
That extra pick would sooth my soul. |
